Welcome to my talk page! Leave me a message :)

My name is Lauren and I am an undergraduate student at Azusa Pacific University. I am studying Communication and love learning about new cultures. Most of my childhood was spent overseas, so experiencing new people, places, and cultures is a pretty big part of me. Lodeo (talk) 22:08, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Questions for Class

edit

Just a spot to post any questions I have about COMM 310! Lodeo (talk) 21:59, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wiki 1

edit

I have completed the Wikipedia training orientation.

Wiki 2

edit

I have completed wiki 2, including creating an account (Lodeo), make edits in a sandbox and learn the basic rules of Wikipedia, creating a user page, and signing up on the list of students on the course page. I have also introduced myself to any Wikipedians helping our class, and left a message for a classmate (Eliray11) on their user talk page.

Wiki 3 - Articles to Edit

edit

Here are the articles I'm thinking about using for my final project:

Wiki 4

edit

Added new information to the Third Culture Kid page under the "Intercultural Experiences" section.

Wiki 5

edit

I have decided to contribute to the Missionary Kids article. I think there is a lot of good information and research that can be added to the page. Right now I'm looking into sources relating to MKs transitioning back into their passport country. Most research seems to be focused on American MKs transitioning back into the United States for college. Lodeo (talk) 17:09, 10 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have decided to add to the Missionary Kids page. Here are some of the articles I plan to use for research.

  • Pollock, D. C., & Van Reken, R. E. (2009). Third culture kids: Growing up among worlds. Boston: Nicholas Brealey Publishing.

Lodeo (talk) 22:14, 25 March 2013 (UTC) I'm a TCK/missionary kid, so I feel that I can help expand these articles. Lodeo (talk) 22:04, 8 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Great topic ideas. I'd suggest the missionary kid page. Ajungle (talk) 17:41, 22 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wiki 6

Here are the suggestions I posted on the Missionary Kids talk page.

Hello! I'm working on improving this article as a part of my intercultural communication class. I am an MK and would love to help expand this page with more research and good sources. Here are some of my suggestions for improving this page. Improving the language of the already existing sections so it reads less like the back of a book about MKs Adding sections and subsections to cover the various aspects of being an MK (i.e. how transitioning back to their passport country affects MKs and subsections for the various methods of helping the transition process) Providing credible and academic sources for citations

Help us improve the Wikipedia Education Program

edit

Hi Lodeo! As a student editor on Wikipedia, you have a lot of valuable experience about what it's like to edit as a part of a classroom assignment. In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it's extremely helpful to hear from real student editors about their challenges, successes, and support needs. Please take a few minutes to answer these questions by clicking below. (Note that the responses are posted to a public wiki page.) Thanks!
