Welcome edit

Hello there, and welcome to Wikipedia. It looks as though you are used to how the encyclopaedia works from your edits so far, so I will spare you the usual welcome template! However could I ask that you apply to change your username please, because of the possible confusion with HiLo48? You can ask for a rename at this page. Many thanks! Hello Kim Dent-Brown, and thanks for the welcome. You're quite right, I'm fairly cognisant on how the encyclopedia works as I was a semi-regular contributor many years ago. I will endeavour to read through the policies and guidelines though, as I'm sure they have changed over the years. Regarding my username, I can see how confusion could play some part if HiLo48 and I are involved in the same discussion, however given Wikipedia's extensive and thorough page history / logging system, I would have thought the risk of confusion and problems arising from this is relatively low. Obviously if problems arose in the future due to confusion between users, I accept a username-change would be the best course of action. Given there is no breach of the WP:USERNAME policy at this point, is your note above a 'suggestion', or a 'directive'? kind regards LoHi48 (talk) 04:33, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
You seem familiar enough with Wikipedia to need no lessons on the powers of administrators, so I won't patronise you by giving one. However I am struggling to think of a good reason why you should have chosen (I assume deliberately) such a confusing user name. Care to enlighten me? Hello Kim, my name is Louis Highview and I was born in 1948. My username is the concatenated abbreviation of those three things, kind regards LoHi48 (talk) 02:55, 19 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the explanation. A remarkable coincidence! Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 08:16, 19 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Indeed... almost an unbelievable one! Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi

  • I noticed this edit today. Given that the edit included an edit summary, but was clearly not constructive, and HiLo48 is a well known editor, my first thought was that this was a username setup so as, in some way, to attack HiLo48. Upon checking your edit history I note you've edited a number of soccer articles. As HiLo48 has an unfortunate tendency to upset the delicate sensibilities of users who quite vociferously announce their preference for "association football" over "soccer", this seemed to support my initial thought. You might be wise to request a username change to avoid a dark cloud hanging over your edits, if you truly intend editing constructively. --AussieLegend () 10:04, 17 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely because its username is a blatant violation of our username policy – it is obviously profane; threatens, attacks or impersonates another person; or suggests that your intention is not to contribute to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, nor is trolling or other disruptive behavior ever tolerated. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} on your user talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
