Hello.....

Hello Littleboy!

edit

Welcome to the Big bad nasty world of Wikipedia!

I have just deleted your edit to Giotto. The reason being that those beautiful frescos in the Upper Church at Assisi are almost certainly not by Giotto. They appear to have been painted by a team of artists from Rome. In the 19th century, when scholarship into 13th century painters was just beginning, and most of the names of artists of that period were still unknown, all those paintings were ascribed to Giotto, because he was famous from Vasari's "Lives" and Vadari wrote about him as if no-one else existed who painted in a similar style. (Vasari rarely looked at artists outside Florence). Nowadays they are regarded as not the work by Giotto, except by some Italian diehards who want them to be. Unfortunately the guide books from San Francesco haven't been brought up to date. Some nice person uploaded all the pictures to Wiki Commons as Giottos. If you take a look at the category, on Commons you will probably still find a lengthy note from me, explaining that they are not now considered to be by Giotto.

In fact, he may have had a hand in some of them, as an assistant. But he certainly didn't design the scheme, and he didn't design or paint the majority of the pictures.

An important thing to do is to read the article before you add anything. You wouldn't expect that the addition of a picture uploaded as a Giotto would be in any way contentious, but, as it just happens, in this case, it is!.
