Dodge City, Kansas

Over the past several weeks, I've built out most of the Dodge City page. What's left now is the History section which, in my opinion, needs to be rewritten completely. However, such an overhaul is going to be time- and research-intensive, and, unfortunately, I just don't have the time. I saw your post on the Dodge City talk page a few months back and, having poked around on your pages here, see that you're a member of both the Kansas and Old West WikiProjects, interested in Dodge City specifically, and a former teacher of Kansas history to boot. As such, I was wondering if you'd mind taking a crack at it.

The current draft of the History section contains no citations, contains too much supplemental background information, reads like something from a local travel brochure, and covers none of Dodge City's history from 1886 onward. It needs to be replaced with well-written, thoroughly researched, and cited material. In addition, I think Dodge City's history is probably rich enough, and significant enough in Old West lore, to warrant having its own page with a rolled up "executive summary" on the main Dodge City page.

Personally, I couldn't care less whether the page achieves FA-status or not, or even if it's rated at all for that matter. But, having put a ton of research and a lot of work into it, I'd like to see the History section done justice and the article completed well, especially by someone genuinely qualified to do it. Let me know what you think. FUBAR007 (talk) 22:45, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

  • I have recently accepted a new job, which keeps me from editing Wikipedia with any regularity. What I may do is cut-and-paste the current section into a Word document, and work with it as I can find the time. I just wanted to let you know my situation, so that if you want to find someone else to work on it until I can get the time, you can. LHM 02:05, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
There's no rush. I say get to it when you can. FUBAR007 (talk) 17:06, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
