If you put something,

edit

anything, on your user page then your name will appear in blue instead of red. This suggests to other editors that you are perhaps planning to stay a while and often gets you up to 37% more respect. Please don't let what is going on a Jacob Epstein drive you away. Discussion pages often do not show the best side of wikipedia. Try making a few edits in an article somewhere, back it up with a good source and see how that feels. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 23:22, 24 August 2010 (UTC) PS I don't think any of the editors there were administrators, or if they are then I saw no evidence of it. Any admin there was not pulling rank on anyone. Carptrash (talk) 23:24, 24 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

If they're not administrators, then shame on the real administrators for letting them run amok like that. I showed this stuff to a couple of friends including the one who's a WP editor and who got me in here: they all agreed that the level of discourse is grotesque. They also said Epstein should be described as British, and that Modernist and Freshacconci must be driven by a severe case of American jingoism, but I don't think that's correct: I think they just hate to be disagreed with. Their reactions to opposing viewpoints are comparable to a four-year-old's. I checked in today with the tiniest hope that Modernist might have apologized: silly girl! He just keeps going on and on, and no one from WP says anything back to him. My editor friend (who is NOT Ymoro by the way - no matter what the paranoids think, I have never met or communicated with him at all) said I should just ignore them, but I can't accept that either: I wasn't kidding when I said they ruined my day, and today isn't feeling any better. Foul-tempered control freaks are common enough in real life, but to find them dominating a so-called scholarly enterprise like this is just too dispiriting for me to remain involved. Thank you for checking in with me, but I have had enough. LillianVee (talk) 18:12, 25 August 2010 (UTC)Reply
