April 2014 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to Louise Kennedy, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at the welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. Please look more carefully at what you did. I incorporated your information and reference and correctly formatted your reference into the text and included the other information as we need to make sure that published information is correctly covered. The right emphasis was placed on the fact Louise Kennedy states she started in 1983, but as multiple sources state it started in either 1982 or 1984, that had to be acknowledged too. Plus, by removing the "misleading reference", you broke a bunch of other references throughout the text which refer to that same source. Mabalu (talk) 14:43, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Louise Kennedy edit

Hi LilaRose13,

Firstly - I should advise you that as you work for Louise Kennedy's PR, there is a conflict of interest with your edits to the page. If there are factual inaccuracies please request the appropriate edits on Talk:Louise Kennedy with sources, so that unassociated editors can consider them and make the edits as appropriate, but if you make the edits yourself, that is problematic. Regarding the Thurles thing, (a report in the Irish Independent says "The Thurles-born designer") this is based on published sources so if it is incorrect, we need a third-party newspaper report or published source to state explicitly otherwise. LK's own bio would be acceptable for a fact like this, but I don't see where she says about her place of birth. I'm very happy to work with you to improve the article's accuracy, but bear in mind that due to the conflict of interest, it's a little problematic for you to directly edit the page. Hi Mabalu,

Thank you again for your comments. As you explained it is best we advise the edits using this talk page. In respect of this, Please find below a suggested edit that I have reviewed for you using your guidelines as suggested. I will now leave it up to you now to format and arrange in respect of the citations provided by me upon review of your last message. if you require any further clarification please don't hesitate to get back in contact. best regards, LilaRoseLilarose13 (talk) 15:49, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia This article is about the Irish fashion designer. For the Hollyoaks character, see Louise Summers. Louise Kennedy Born June 28, 1960 (age 53)[1] Puckaun, North Tipperary,[2]

Louise Kennedy is an Irish fashion designer and businesswoman who, in 2013, was called the 'uncrowned queen of Irish fashion'.[2] Contents • 1 Career • 2 Awards • 3 In popular culture • 4 References Career[edit] Kennedy studied at the College of Marketing and Design, now part of Dublin Institute of Technology and the Grafton Academy,[3] before setting up her own business in 1983, according to her official website.[4] (Some sources say 1982,[5][6] or 1984.[1]) In 1990 she was commissioned to design an inauguration outfit for Mrs Mary Robinson, the first female President of Ireland, for this the President wore a purple moiré silk outfit and she continued to dress the President throughout her term in office and thereafter.[3]Kennedy stated that she had been very fortunate by the timing of this, as it drew a great deal of attention and media coverage with many Irish clients suddenly made aware of her work and choosing to buy from her.[7] In the Mid 90’s Louise joined the British Fashion Council where she showed biannually during London fashion week. [1] She opened her flagship store located at 56 Merrion Square Dublin in 1997, the same year in which she designed uniforms for flight staff on Aer Lingus.[1] Since 1999 she has also designed glassware for Tipperary Crystal, collaborating with Marcus Notley since 2001.[1][8] In 2009, she designed new judge's robes for the Irish Law Courts, marking a break from the traditional British robes that previous judges had worn.[9] In 2011 Kennedy started offering bespoke wedding dresses,[1] and in 2013 she launched a range of personalised designer handbags.[2]

In 2011 Kennedy started offering bespoke wedding dresses in the recently launched bridal room which houses a bespoke bridal collection exclusively stocked at her headquarters in Merrion Square.[10] 2013 marked an important anniversary for Louise Kennedy where she celebrated thirty years in the fashion industry and also launched the limited edition “Kennedy bag” designed by Louise Kennedy herself in collaboration with Tanner Krolle, Britain’s iconic leather goods company. The bag is constructed using French leather hand crafted in Italy with a labour intensive raw edge construction. [11] In April 2014, Louise was one of the chosen Irish Designers to dress Mrs. Sabina Higgins, wife of President Higgins on their official state visit to the UK. [12] Kennedy has also dressed members of the British, European and Middle Eastern Royal families. Other supporters include Sarah Brown, Cherie Blair, Angelica Huston, Meryl Streep, Anide McDowell, Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, Jo Malone, Emma Thompson, Yasmin Le Bon and the late Elizabeth Taylor. [13]

Awards[edit] Kennedy was named Irish Designer of the Year award in 1989 and 1990,.[1] She won a Fashion Oscar in 1992 for the Best Irish Designer Collection and in 1994 was the first female designer to receive an award for Outstanding Achievements in Fashion from the Irish Clothing Industry.[1] For her achievements in Irish fashion she was elected Tipperary Person of the Year in 1992.[1] She has also been named Veuve Cliquot's Irish Businesswoman of the Year for 2003 and 2004.[1] In 2009 she became the first woman to act as style envoy for Mercedes-Benz.[5] Throughout her career Kennedy has been recognised for her suit and coat designs, winning awards specifically for these in 1985 (Best Irish Coat Collection), 1991 (Best Suit and Best Coat Award), and 1993 (Best Coat and Suit Collection Designer of the Year).[1] In popular culture[edit] In 2010 Kennedy was one of six contemporary, internationally renowned Irish fashion designers featured on a set of Irish postage stamps issued by An Post. The other designers featured were Paul Costelloe, Lainey Keogh, John Rocha, Philip Treacy and Orla Kiely.[6] Along with Costelloe she was a celebrity guest judge for the 2013 final of RTÉ Television's Craft Master show.[5] References[edit] 1. December 2014 Suggested Improvements to the Louise Kennedy Wikipedia edit

Lilarose13 (talk) 23:28, 9 December 2014 (UTC) Good evening Wikipedia editors,Reply

I have been in contact with a colleague of yours through the wikipedia.org, my ticket number for your reference is 201420510013722but I have had no further response since my last email at 8h30am on December 8th 2014.

As you will see from this, we would like to make some suggested changes that remain objective about the international Irish designer Louise Kennedy.

Some further details need to be updated on the current Wikipedia page at present, namely some new information surrounding her most latest achievements. Those of which you will see referenced and visible at www.louisekennedy.com:

"This year, she was also the recipient of The Great Britain and Ireland Company of the Year Award presented to her by The Irish Post. In November of this year, Louise was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy from the Dublin Institute of Technology"

Kennedy, Louise. "Louise Kennedy - Profile". Official website. Retrieved 2014-09-14.

The main areas for addition are the following and this is how I would feel is best to reference, please advise if this is the correct approach as you will see from my previous correspondence, our attempts to ensure Wikipedia projects the most viable information have been refuted.

I must also advise that I do work for Louise Kennedy, however it is hoped that we can best be advise how to ensure certain factual inaccuracies are removed and that the most objective sourcing and up to date sources are better utilised.

I await your feedback,

Kindest regards,

Lilarose13 (talk) 23:28, 9 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Lilarose13 Thank you so much for the updates! Please could you post any future edit requests on the talk page of the page you are requesting edited - in this case, Talk:Louise Kennedy instead of on your talk page? It's lucky I still watch your talk page because otherwise this request may have gone completely unnoticed. Also, please note that - as was explained before - we require third-party sources for the majority of information in biographical articles. Louise Kennedy's own website is not an appropriate source except for very specific details - we need other sources that are not directly affiliated with her in order to make sure that the page is not reliant on press releases or the designer's own publicity. There should be news reports and other sources noting these awards, so I will have a look and add the new information in, if the sources can be found. All best, Mabalu (talk) 01:43, 10 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
