OK .. request for some help here. — Ched :  ?  17:46, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Okay, so it is intended to hash out each "aim" of the message and then aggregate them within a nice border/background? It should be born in mind that too much detailing in each separate section may mean that it doesn't read too well as a whole - so perhaps there should be a working model created once there is general agreement on a section to ensure that the whole works together? makes sense to me. You had the idea, I thought it was a great idea, and I'm trying to go with it. Build it, trim it, clean it up - that's the direction I'm headed ... suggestions? — Ched :  ?  18:13, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
To avoid ec's and premature tweaking, when one is happy with a section we sign it off on this page and allow the other to take a look, make suggestions or boldly edit, check it off again on this page, and the other basically does the same until we both think we can't improve it - and then dump it into the "working model" space? Once all agreed sections are finished we use the same method on the "working model"? LessHeard vanU (talk) 18:40, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
works for me .. I'm done .. your efforts now. — Ched :  ?  18:51, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
We don't know the relationship between notifier and deceased, so neutral but sympathetic language is best - it may be some one who is net savvy for someone else, or a colleague or neighbour who is just being a good citizen. Somewhere we also need to mention that not only is there a regrettable risk of vandalism, but being a wiki it may be changed by good faith editors. Anyhow, that is my versions - section specific notes/comments below, and general ones here? LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:43, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Great, some points I had not considered - and links I wasn't aware of. I think we're on to something here. — Ched :  ?  20:10, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay, having another run through. LessHeard vanU (talk) 18:41, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Right, I am going to leave the editing of the text alone. Anything else I may put in might start obscuring the purpose and I think I should let Ched and any others work at what is now there without interference. I will, of course, respond here to queries but I am content to generally let folk vary, rearrange and remove as they see fit. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:49, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Initial Statement

edit

Expanded, but might need better structure. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:43, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tweaked. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:37, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Likely the most delicate, so "good enough" is not. If we can't get it right, then we will need to ask for help on it as top priority when it is proposed. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:43, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment. When this is placed within the boilerplate I understand there will be no section headings, etc. The links need to be formatted so they are easily navigable, but do not "stick out" - therefore the different sections should be aggregated toward the bottom of the page and reviewed, with any adjustments made then. This also provides any template wizard with a block of text they can drop into the relevant field. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:53, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Wishes

edit

The rules need to be applied, even in these circumstances, so no unkeepable promises. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:43, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Expanded. Noted that the open editing environment means the page may alter over time, but it will be done with due respect to others wishes (and vandalism will be dealt with). Prompted to suggest type of memorial. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:43, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

edit

Tweaked. I think noting that they have no responsibility to continue using an account once they are finished with it, but could do so if they wish would be beneficial, as is the reason for creating one. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:43, 25 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Big expansion. The login bit is kept, but generally I have used this section to quickly guide the informant in how to get things done - like asking questions, etc. I think we needn't scare them by simply saying "go to this place and do what they tell you", but allow them to be guided and informed if they are uncertain. OK .. how do we get this to work?

I'm grabbing anyone that I think could help here Mark. I've already posted to the relevant rip boards. Hope you don't mind. — Ched :  ?  09:14, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Fine by me. LessHeard vanU (talk) 12:49, 26 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
A RfC has been opened at Wikipedia_talk:Deceased_Wikipedians/Guidelines#RfC:_Does_WP:NOT_disallow_this_portion_of_the_proposal. Apologies for not taking the time to remove the underscores. I understand that there are usually more pressing needs at WP to attend to, but I thought I should make note of it. Also: At WT:RIP User:Conti mentions that template is not an accurate description, and I'd have to agree with him at this point. The development and improvements have likely led this to being a "guide" rather than a "template". However, as this is LHvU's space, I'll save any moves or renames for him to expedite. Also, I have brought this to a couple users attention, but somewhere in the future we may want to look at posting to VP or CENT or something to solicit a larger audience. As always Mark, I appreciate your help with this, your improvements are greatly appreciated. — Ched :  ?  17:46, 28 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
