Hi Leigh. No, I'm not employed by Wikipedia, just an amateur who got 'hooked'. The school students are welcome to contribute, but please remember that they will be treated in much the same way as adults, and if vandalism from your school IP is detected, then the IP number will be blocked for a period, resulting in nobody from the school being able to edit for a period. The Wikipedia "No Original Research" policy makes it ideal to teach your students about literature reviews, but expansive enthusiastic reviews of the local area tend to get severely shortened if they don't provide references from reliable sources. They will also learn to question what they read as Wikipedia articles might be generally accurate, but at any moment, a particular article could have been vandalised with misinformation at the moment you opened it. Remember too that Wikipedia is not censored.

Anyway, welcome. You might be interested in Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia or Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools. Also, drop by the Australian noticeboard and Australian collaboration of the fortnight. --Scott Davis Talk 14:16, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
