Changing information

edit

You have changed the amount of RAM required for Ubuntu. But there is a source cited at the end of the sentence and it does not agree with your change. You cannot change sourced infomation unless you provide a new source which verifies it. Wikipedia works on verifiabilty. If we can't verify your change, then it will be reverted. List articles

edit

In general, list articles are directories of Wikipedia articles. We do not add entries for things which do not yet have a Wikipedia article. See write the article first. Yworo (talk) 15:07, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Launching777. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Zorin os, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Hello, is the account user:Zorin soft an old account of your's? Widefox; talk 08:31, 6 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Unblocking my IP address

Request reason:

The IP address 190.72.119.5 is not mine, as I do not own any devices (computers, routers, etc.) with this IP address (all my IP addresses start with 192 and have a subnet mask greater than 255.255.0.0)

Decline reason:

Procedural decline. Two requests open at the same time - see below. —DoRD (talk) 14:11, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hey :) It looks like the block you're encountering is an open proxy. Due to the extremely high level of abuse that we receive through open proxies, unfortunately we have had to block all editing through them. As to your IP address - if the address starts with 192.168 then it's a private address that is only applicable within your home or work network. You will likely have a router or internet gateway which has a single public IP address for the entire network, and it's this that Wikipedia will see. I'd suggest not using the open proxy, or if you think this is a mistake, let us know here. :) [stwalkerster|talk] 21:43, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think this is a mistake, as I do not use open proxy. In fact, I do not use proxy at all.

Request reason:

I do not even use proxy

Decline reason:

Unfortunately, it does appear that you are connecting to Wikipedia through an IP address that has been identified as an open proxy. You will need to connect directly or via some other legitimate means to be able to edit. —DoRD (talk) 14:11, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

That is, unfortunately, incorrect. Almost all internet access is through some form of proxy; see Proxy server, specifically the section about forward proxies. It's also possible that you may be unwittingly using an open proxy if you're using an anonymising service such as TOR. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 07:58, 27 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't know what happened but somehow I am unblocked?!? Can someone explain what happened? May it be because I was running an FTP client while I was here? Launching777 (talk) 00:26, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
