Writing 101 assignments

I've had a chance to review student drafts and have left comments for everyone. It would be great if students would be able to make changes or incorporate suggestions before they post their assignments. Most of the writeups need links to other articles. There were a few drafts that didn't seem to correspond to any stub articles or that duplicated content that already exists on Wikipedia. I think if we had more time we could have made sure that the whole process was a lot smoother. Thank you for reviewing the drafts and leaving comments! Today I will ask them to make those changes before moving their articles to the main space. I didn't realize they needed to make links - woops! Next time I teach this I will definitely get more of a head start on getting an ambassador to help with the whole process. Your help has been appreciated! It has been a huge learning experience for me and for the students. Very interesting and fun! Thank you again, and thank you for being available today! Hi again, Gobonobo! I just read through all the comments you left in the students' user pages. You gave them very useful feedback and I appreciated the way you kept the criticisms constructive. That was a lot of work on your part to read through all their articles and comment! Thank you again. I've learned a few things I will do differently next time - I see that it would be useful if I have an ambassador help me with looking over the stubs that students choose to expand, as I now realize that was a bit of an issue with some of the students. I tried to assure that they were all completing existing stubs but still missed a few. Also, I will allow more class time next time to edit the papers for proper paraphrasing, citing, and quoting before having students post to the user page. Historic places in Montana articles needed ... and photos too

Hello LMB333! It's a delight to see that you're discovering Wikipedia as a tool for teaching writing.

I've been finding that it's much easier to write a short article from scratch when you start out with a photo. I'm looking forward to visiting out in Montana and taking some photos for the National Register of Historic Places listings in Montana. (Last time I took photos for Lolo Pass, Montana Salish, etc.) Since Montana is such a big place, there are plenty of photos yet to be taken. Perhaps you or your students would enjoy taking photo hunt expeditions around Montana now and then. Creating more Montana content would be a significant contribution, even if you write only brief, stub articles, or add photos to tables.
