Hi Kurita77, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.

Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.

Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing! --Spangineer (háblame) June 29, 2005 14:41 (UTC)

Editing signature

edit

Sure thing! There's a link called "preferences" in the upper right side of your screen. Click that, and then in the field marked "Nickname", type whatever you want to show up when you sign your name. Mine is Spangineer <small><font color=brown>(háblame)</font></small>. Then check the box labeled "raw signatures". Yours doesn't need to be complex; alot of people just do something like Username (talk). To do that, just put Kurita77 (talk). It will automatically add the time/date stamp. Hope that helps, and any other questions, let me know! --Spangineer (háblame) June 29, 2005 14:50 (UTC)

No problem =) Spangineer (háblame) June 29, 2005 15:13 (UTC)

Re: Personal Attacks

edit

Stop being a vigilante. You have no authority to strike through other user's comments, unless they are clear attacks. Even dab (an administrator) said that Brandon's stuff did not classify as personal attacks. Please read the vandalism policy. If you do this again I will report you. Thank you. --Anonymous editor June 29, 2005 15:46 (UTC)

Thanks Kurita, but I'll wait for an admin to strikethrough my comments

edit

... if that's necessary, and to evaluate your parsing of what does and does not constitute a personal attack. For now, I'll only note that my remarks were not directed at you, or indeed at any individual.

You seem to have picked up a whole lot of knowledge about this subject very quickly. How long have you been a wikipedian? BrandonYusufToropov 29 June 2005 16:15 (UTC)

block

edit

this account has been blocked by User:Carbonite on 15:44, 29 June 2005, giving the reason "Sockpuppet of User:Enviroknot (who is blocked for violating an ArbCom injunction)" (a 12 hours block to Enviroknot was issued minutes before this account's appearance). dab () 29 June 2005 17:14 (UTC)

Personal attacks

edit

You struck out comments on Talk:Jihad, instructing the editor to read Wikipedia:No personal attacks — I think that you should read this carefully yourself. General comments about edits and unnamed people don't count as "personal" even in normal English usage. Wikipedia policy is pretty specific about what counts as a personal attack. BYT was a bit testy (with some justification, I think, having looked at the Talk page and the warring over the article), but he wrote nothing that needed to be struck out. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 29 June 2005 18:09 (UTC)

Your situation

edit

I do not know the background of your situation, I was merely telling you the processes at your disposal if you feel you have been mistreated. If you have been treated unfairly you will be listened to, however, if you vandalise articles and send expletive strewn messages you will not be listened to by anyone. Rje June 29, 2005 23:13 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:Eyeshield21.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Eyeshield21.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as db-unksource.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
