FIDE ratings

edit

Hi – thanks for your contributions to the article on Vincent Keymer. In this edit, you removed the FIDE ID, commenting that the rating macro doesn't work. It does work; the ratings just hadn't been updated yet for July. I usually do this on one of the first days of the month and hadn't gotten around to it yet yesterday. If you notice outdated ratings, please update the ratings at Template:Elo rating, as explained in the documentation there, or wait for me to do it, rather than removing FIDE IDs. Gladly, but I don't understand. I thought the ratings were taken directly from the FIDE page where they had already been updated OK when I checked. So this doesn't work this way and some manual updating is required? Kreuzberger (talk) 21:48, 3 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, unfortunately some manual updating is required. It's explained at Template:Elo rating. It's not a lot of work, just copying the data from the German Wikipedia. I try to do it as soon as possible but don't always get around to it on the first of the month. I guess it could be automated but no one's done that yet. Joriki (talk) 11:33, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
The same holds for Template:Elo ranking. I created that and wrote some Java code that extracts the FIDE Top 100, but the data still needs to be manually pasted into the template. Joriki (talk) 11:36, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Very deserving work, but not sustainable. Like they used to tell you in the Fifties: What if you have a car accident? Kreuzberger (talk) 13:42, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
By the way, don't hesitate to make the English more elegant. It is not my native language. Kreuzberger (talk) 13:44, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
