I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  -- Solipsist 23:01, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hi Knutson,

It looks like you are new here, but have already picked up the general idea of editing. When adding comments on talk pages and other pages that are not in the main article space, it is a good idea to sign your edits with four tildas, eg. - ~~~~, which magically turns into your username and timestamp when you save the page.

Good luck with you nomination on Featured Picture Candidates. It is a difficult picture to tell whether it will be sufficiently popular or not, but in anycase it looks like a good addition to the encyclopedia. -- Solipsist 23:01, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hi again,

Now I look at the modification to the image license on Image:Chess.jpg it looks like there is still a slight problem with the licensing. Whilst the GFDL tag is good, it can't then be limited for use on Wikipedia. A GFDL license would mean that this version of this image is free for use by Wikipedia's forks and mirrors and anyone else who wanted to use it, including commercial use, so long as they correctly attribute Nick Gabrichidze as the original author of the work.

It would also allow modification and derivative works to be produced. At the moment, it looks like the whites are fairly dark, so I would be happy to adjust the brightness curve once the license allows it.

Image licensing can be confusing, so if there is anything else you want to talk about, feal free to drop me a note on my talk page. -- Solipsist 23:13, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
