Dispute resolution

edit

Is this the same editor as user:Royal5646? If so then it'd be helpful to stick to one account. If not then welcome aboard. The first step in dispute resolution is discussion on the related article's talk page. Another place to discuss issues with biographies is the Biographies of living people noticeboard. If you like, I can start a thread there and you can explain your issues. A wide range of experienced Wikipedia editors participate there, so it's a good place to solicit opinions.   Will Beback  talk  23:53, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello, thank you for your welcome. I am not the Royal user you referenced. I am concerned that twenty years or more of Mr. Benton's most recent history was deleted and more credibility was given to obscure press clippings concerning Larouche's organization in the 1980s than was given to more recent news coverage of Mr. Benton, including 18 years of the Falls Church News Press. The 20 years of biography that was deleted by another user contained previously Wikipedia-verified information concerning Mr. Benton's many awards and commendations, and his recognition as a business leader by the Falls Church business community, the City of Falls Church government, and the DC gay community. I ask that all revisions to this page be halted until the issue of why this information was deleted, and why numerous attempts to reinstate this information appear not to have been allowed. Thank you again.

OK. Please see Talk:Nicholas F. Benton#wanton deletions and additions for the thread started by user:Royal5646. I just posted a comment there.   Will Beback  talk  00:28, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Just blanking material is not acceptable. If a newspaper runs a profile of a person who disagrees with it, is it appropriate for him to go to newstands and destroy the issues that contain it? No, the appropriate response is to talk to the editors and ask for corrections to be made. Please cooperate so we can achieve an outcome that's acceptable to all.   Will Beback  talk  20:46, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

If your edit was not vandalism, please feel free to make your edit again after reporting it. The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Nicholas F. Benton was changed by Kitzer1200 (u) (t) replacing entire content with something else on 2009-10-16T19:33:28+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot (talk) 19:33, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please note, the deletion of Nicholas F. Benton's page is not "wanton deletion" or "vandalism." This was done at Mr. Benton's request. Wikipedia may have been a good idea at one time, but it appears to have lost its vision and become a defacto blog for those who believe their version of history is the correct one. I repeat, the portions of Mr. Benton's biography that were vandalized by others were portions already verified by Wikipedia. Enough is enough. Please respect Mr. Benton's wishes and shut down this page. Kitzer1200 (talk) 19:43, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
