editing on an iPad

edit

I'm also interested in iWiki skin, but even more, have you or anyone addressed editing MediaWiki on an iPad? The fool device is a very poor fit with the standard MediaWiki editing system! Thanks for any pointers for better managing my editing. GeneK (talk) 18:37, 7 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rich editing is a limitation of mobile Safari which seems to understand it, but does nothing when the user taps on the text to edit it (it used to work a little bit in iOS 3...).
But I am planning on replacing the default editor with an AJAX editor in the future, which will have a preview that refreshes when the user closes the keyboard. Please tell me, what do you think of the editor on the left and the preview on the right?
I will upload the skin to my website and put the link on my MediaWiki skin page tomorrow. Happy new year. by the kirby lover (kirbylover4000) 14:19, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

iWiki on android

edit

Hey

I just tried out your skin on my android phone and it wasn't displaying properly at all. It kept trying to use #NavigateColumns (I think) and most of the page would get cut off.

Hi Tahnok, thanks for testing the browser. I ave no idea what you mean by #NavigateColumns, but I will look into it when I have time. by the kirby lover (kirbylover4000) 08:58, 6 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

iWiki: no content shows after clicking a navigation option

edit

I'm also having the same issue as above, but content also isn't showing after I click on a navigation option. I checked it on my iPod Touch 4G and in Chrome browser (both latest). Not sure if this is something introduced in a newer version of jqtouch than you're using on your demo site. You might want to check it out.

Using iWiki on Wikipedia

edit

Can we use iWiki on regular wikipedia.org by adding custom css and js in the preferences? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wout.mertens (talkcontribs) 11:01, 26 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

If you host the iWiki and jQTouch css/js/image files somewhere online, then do an importScriptURI and importStylesheetURI in your monobook.js and switch to the MonoBook theme, it should work. Please tell me if it works, because I'll propose it as a gadget for Wikipedia. by the kirby lover (kirbylover4000) 11:35, 26 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Using iWiki on iPad 2 and iPhone 4s both with iOS 5.0.1

edit

iPad

edit

My wiki opens with the screenshot as shown on your example.

On trying to navigate by touching a navigation item the following error occurs:
if (window.runOnloadHook) runOnloadHook();
Also back button does not work and does not allow any further navigation on the site, subsequent presses of back button return you to previous websites prior to visiting the mediawiki site.
Using the Reader option on mobile safari to view the current page as a formatted text page, the options on that screen allow some navigation, this directs the output back into the view part of the iWiki screen.
again the back button does not work at that stage.

iPhone

edit

The views are very good in both portrait and landscape views.
The navigation button works good, then same error on the iPhone as the iPad and the same no further navigation allowed.

Sounds like an iOS 5 bug, because it always worked on iOS 4. Thanks for reporting; I'll look ino this. <kirbylover4000 /> 21:46, 17 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
