Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Big Green Gathering. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

  • kinokast.net is a not for profit website of videos I have personally captured over the last 15 years. Nowhere on the site are advertisments or links to commercial sites. Kinokast is not a registered company nor a charity. The links I have been penalised for are links to videos (via kinokast on youtube) solely about the events or causes in question. Kinokast is a non-profit video organisation that primarily promotes causes and campaigns. There isn't even a donations link on my site. Can someone please explain exactly why my IP and username has been blocked? thanks.
It doesn't matter--being noncommercial (etc.) doesn't confer a license to spam even when it's true. Promotion is promotion even if the business is organized as a nonprofit. Neutrality is an important objective at Wikipedia, Unfortunately the External links policy on Advertising and conflicts of interest states You should avoid linking to a website that you own, maintain or represent, which is in line with the conflict of interest guidelines. Your contributions consist entirely of promoting kinokast.net and is considered WP:Spam. May also want to read WP:PROMOTION, WP:NOTREPOSITORY, WP:NOTADVOCATE and Wikipedia:Username policy. --Hu12 (talk) 18:33, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your own definition of spam states "Spam is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages, especially advertising, indiscriminately." This is not my intention, and to be honest I'm offended that this is how Wikipedia views it so. I have a few causes and campaigns I was personally involved in and consequently would like to contribute to the relevant wikipedia page hosted by your organisation. If I were to write a book about the subject; a link to such book and the inherent promotion incurred, would be deemed ok?
