Hello Kelapstick: I'm new to all this, as you've surmised. I am trying to create a new article similar to the articles I've seen by two entities similar to mine that I've worked with. But it was immediately flagged by you and then marked for deletion for apparently being too commercial. However when I go back and review these two other articles:

I don't see that the entry I was working on was any more commercial than those. I guess I need a better idea of what's acceptable. Large companies like Microsoft and Adobe Systems have huge Wiki articles filled with information about their products, etc. Seems fairly commercial to me. Incidentally the ultimate goal in having joined and creating the article was to eventually create a disambiguation link between another article relating to music that's using our trademarked name. We worked very hard to establish and maintain our mark and we need to protect it whenever and wherever we see it being potentially abused. What do you suggest? Hi KTS2, I am afraid I don't remember exactly what the article you created looked like, but I would like to help you out. First off, before I get started, I want to point out the "guideline" called WP:OTHERSTUFF. The basic premise is, do not say, "because article X is here article Y should be here too". So if you are going to fight to keep an article here, don't use that as an argument. Another thing that you should read is the general notability guidelines for any article, because even if the article is not blatant advertisement, it is still going to have to pass that test. The other thing that you should read is the reliable source guidelines which outlines what we consider reliable sources that can be used to establish notability as laid out in the policy I mentioned above. So, here is what I am proposing, If you think that you can establish notability, create a draft of the article here User:Killthesilence2/sandbox. If you make it there, it will not be deleted so you can work on it until it is ready and we are confident it will not be deleted. OK, thanks for your offer to help. The crazy thing is that the article was tagged for deletion and then deleted literally less than 10 minutes after it was started; there wasn't even time to complete the section with references, etc. So that was really bizarre for me being a first time contributor here. Again, if there is any offending material in there that's considered too 'commercial', it can be edited out. The main point of the article was to protect the mark and provide a disambiguous link away from the offender's article. I'll work on the sand box article then ping you. Thx. Being tagged so quickly isn't uncommon at all, all new pages are posted at Special:NewPages and people (myself included) patrol that page tagging new pages for deletion if appropriate (there are an amazing about of advertisement, attack, and blatant vandalism pages created every day). That is why it is (sometimes) best to start a page in a userspace and get it ready so that it will pass the new page patrol without any trouble and you wind up not fighting to keep it because there are no issues.--kelapstick (talk) 18:48, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello Kelapstick, I've placed the article in the Killthesilence2 User Page. Ideally some form of this will survive to be published as a disambiguous linked article when a user searches for "KILL THE SILENCE". Since that is our mark and we are involved in music, it is important for us to protect our mark and distinguish it from other similar usages, as currently found in Wikipedia. One thing to note is the only other reference to Kill the Silence is an album released in 2006, so I think there is little chance of confusion on that front. Next you are going to find Independent sources to establish notability. The marketwire page does not at all mention Kill the Silence anywhere in it, and the Adobe article is actually by someone involved with Kill the Silence, so it can not be used to establish notability. Speedy deletion of Kill The Silence Media

A tag has been placed on Kill The Silence Media, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article.
