Huge apologies to anyone that I may have offended! edit

I love languages and Arabic tops my list as the best ever! I have made changes to certain pages on Arabic Wiki to improve the information available to those using the service but it would appear that my efforts have been misunderstood by some users and I've been unfairly accused of vandalism and of having a "sock-puppet account"!

PLEASE, if you have ANY problem with something that I've done here on Wiki then assume the best, contact me politely and kindly request me to clarify why I have done such a thing. If there really has been an error and I am at fault then I am more than happy to admit to it, make the necessary reparations and say thanks for your being so kind as to point it out to me.

Finally, to clarify one specific point: the name of the capital city of Spain in the Arabic language is: مجريط (majrīṬ)- as evidenced in many classical works, including Al-Idrīsi's "Nuzhat al-Mushtaaq" and Yāqūt al-Hamawiy's "Mu`jam al-Buldān". The pronunciation of the place name was corrupted gradually (by the Mudejars المدحنين) and then by the Castilian Spaniards until it became Madrid مدريذ (the final "d" being pronounced as the "th" in the English word "this" = ذ). This was then further corrupted through Anglicization into Madrid (pronounced as spelt, with stress falling on the final syllable) which has given the modern 'Arabic' form of the word مدريد.

In reality, the Arabic name of the place is and always has been مجريط - the modern form of مدريد is not Arabic but is used in place of the authentic form of the word due to mass ignorance. Authentic Arabic is الفصحى NOT foreign words that are used in عامية no matter how many Arabs do not know the فصحى.

My other alterations all follow the same methodology. I was actually trying to help to improve the level of Arabic understood around the world - I'm sorry if I've unwittingly caused offense by doing so.

To the specific individuals involved, I tried to apologize on your discussion pages but Wiki was doing maintenance so I hope you'll read this here and understand.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:13, 13 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
