Noticed that you work for DePaul and help maintain the pages. Finally! I'm a DePaul grad who's been hoping that DePaul would pay attention to wikipedia. It's a great way for people to learn about the school...good and bad. I had previously done some editing on the main DePaul page and am the author of the DePaul College of Law article. I have been hesitant about including pictures on the sites because of copyright issues. However, since you work for DePaul, I was wondering if you would be able to get permission to post some nice campus shots on the wiki page. The DePaul University website has some nice photos, but we would need permission to post them on wiki. The same goes for the college of law. Any pictures that we could post of the downtown buildings, or even the new welcome center in Lewis, would be great. Thanks!

Dispute

Hey, unfortunatly, I did not know where to begin looking for such advice. I had asked someone else for advice on your problem. You can see that here. They inturn replied on my talk page here. Please provide me with a link when you post, and/or ask any other questions you may have. Hope this helps.  :) Joe I 10:42, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

DePaul U. Seal or Coat of Arms

edit

Kris, since you work with the media folks, can you get the University Seal (preferably) or the Coat of Arms on DePaul University's wiki site (instead of the tree of wisdom)? It would look better and most universities have their Coats of Arms up. Thanks! Mc4932 05:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

About the seal

edit

Mc4932 - DePaul does not post its seal or coat of arms electronically (you won't find them on the university's Web site). This policy prevents diploma mills and other nefarious sorts from doing illegal things with our seal. I do see that other universities have seals on their sites, but because such images become publicly accessible, DePaul won't. Thanks for the suggestion, however -- I'm glad to have a fellow positive contributor to the site! Kris

Coat of Arms

edit

Hi Kris - You can find it on the website. See the faculty pages in the college of commerce, for example.

But that's not the point

edit

So, the Web master will be having the College of Commerce take it down. My point is that it is against university policy, and that the seal and coat of arms are owned by the university and proprietary. While Wikipedia is not part of DePaul, our General Counsel takes a very, very dim view of having these two marks appear anywhere on the Web. Is there a way that we can work this out amicably?

Kris

Deleted Alums

edit

I deleted the alums because they are considered non-notable by Wikipedia standards. Check out WP:Stand-alone lists#Lists of people for the policy I'm referring to. hbent (talk) 16:45, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
