April 2024 edit

Kemmsy (talk) 07:50, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Kindly permit me to request for the block on my account to be lifted. Having read the reasons given, I do understand where I went wrong, and I pologise for this. I assure that this will never happen again, and I have put measures in place to see to this.
Here is what happened, and why:
I created my account recently. Having followed the activities of Dr Chris Ifediora and that of the OCI Foundation that he established, I noticed that his Wikipedia Page does not fully capture his personality and the impact of his activities.
I set about to edit that page, which was already in exitence. No one paid me to do that.
However, another user known to me (Sonnie Nwisu Abuja) also felt the same way that I did, and was willing to make contributions to both Dr Chris Ifediora and the OCI Foundation. He (Sonnie Nwosu Abuja) lives in Nigeria, and does have issues with power supply and internet access very often. So, he asked for my help in using his account to add edits and updates that he had already prepared. We are not the same people, and I live in Australia while he is in Nigeria. Dr Chris Ifediora and the OCI Foundation function in both countries, and that is whe we both got know about him and his Foundaiton, and have the common desire to ensure that both entities are captured properly.
I only log into his account (at his request), and used it to add edits that he himself prepared, just as a way to get around the obstacles he has (electric power and internet that are not steady in Nigeria). I am not the same person that own both accounts. I am female while he is male.
Being new to Wikipedia means that I was not aware of the rules. I thought that just the consent from him to use his account on his behalf was enough. Now, I know better.
As stated, this will never happen again. Kindly unblock me, please. While I cannot speak for him, I also know Sonny Nwosu Abuja has learnt his lesson, as we discussed this since learning of the bans. He is remorseful as well. It is up to him to appeal his own ban, though.
I also noticed the Chris Ifediora Wikipedia page was drastically whittled down at the same time as I was banned. I know that my actions led to this. But, please, all the information on the full page is correct and is well cited. Kindly reinstate that, please. It took a long time to upgrade that page, and it may be hard to re-do them, as copies were not kept. All citations there are authentic, and have existed for many years. Dr Ifediora is a huge personality with an impact on many people the world over. The current page does not reflect that. It is unfor to his personality, and I feel personally guilty for this. Kindly reinstate the page, please.
Thanks for the opportunity to appeal this ban. I have learnt my lesson fully. I promise to be of good behaviour, and contribute more to the Wikipedia project.
Thank you.

I was advised to resend this appeal, noting that I am not (and have never) been paid directly or indirectly to make any edits on Wikipedia.

Hello Kemmsy. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Kemmsy. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Kemmsy|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:16, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your prompt response, @Deepfriedokra. I can state categorically that I am not being paid for the edits I have made Wikipedia. I have not received, and will never receive payment for these 9or future) edits.
This is why I feel personally disappointed for the earlier error, as I committed personal time and energy in providing enlightenment for something I believe that the world would benefit from, only for me to mistakenly put it at risk.
Hopefully, you and Wikipedia can help correct it. As stated previously, I have learnt my lesson.
Again, I state that I did not collect money or any form of compensation for any of my edits. Thanks for the opportunity to explain. Kemmsy (talk) 20:20, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Providing enlightenment is not the purpose of this encyclopedia. Adding documents he prepared? That is not the purpose of this encyclopedia and emphasizes the need to block you. You will not be unblocked to edit in this topic area, assuming you succeed in appealing the sock puppetry block. Not sure what lesson you have learned, but you need to follow the instructions in the block notice to request unblocking. Thanks -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 21:59, 21 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
It seems that my points are misunderstood.
I made edits to a particular page. That was not why I was blocked. My understanding that I have been flagged as operating different accounts, which I explained in my appeal to get me unblocked. As I explained there, that misunderstanding arose because I assisted someone with another account (not my own account) to upload something. This was only necessary because of the difficulties that person had in accessing electricity and the internet.
I have since learnt that such assistance is not allowed. I will not do such again. My own account is unique to me, and have never been shared with anyone. I am also not paid for the edits I made. Please unblock me.
You are referring me back to file an unblocking request. I have done that already. I though that was what you were addressing here. You indicated that my appeal had already been accepted, but that I needed to state if I am being paid. I am not being paid.
Please, kindly unblock me. The lesson have been learnt, and I pledge never to make that mistake again. Thanks. Kemmsy (talk) 01:51, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Not seeing an unblock request. Please copy and paste

Thank you. A new unblock request has now been submitted.
Kind regards. Kemmsy (talk) 06:10, 22 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please, kindly consider this a gentle reminder. As advised, I resent the unblock request about 3 days ago. I have not received a response. Warm regards, Kemmsy (talk) 01:05, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Even though you've been helped with instructions, you have not "resent the unblock request". Apparently, the ability to follow rather simple instructions is not something you have. Do you see anything that looks like a real unblock request? Take a look at the bottom of User talk:Mejoel in case you don't know what it looks like.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:48, 25 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Kindly permit me to request for the block on my account to be lifted.

Having read the reasons given, I do understand where I went wrong, and I apologise for this.

I assure you that this will never happen again, and I have put measures in place to see to this.

Here is what happened, and why:

• I created my account recently. Having followed the activities of Dr Chris Ifediora and that of the OCI Foundation that he established, I noticed that his Wikipedia Page does not fully capture his personality and the impact of his activities.

• I set about to edit that page, which was already in existence. No one paid me to do that.

• Dr Chris Ifediora and the OCI Foundation function in both countries, and that is when we both got to know about him and his foundation, and we have the common desire to ensure that both entities are captured properly.

• I only log into his account (at his request) and used it to add edits that he himself prepared, just as a way to get around the obstacles he has (electric power and internet that are not steady in Nigeria). I am not the same person that owns both accounts. I am female while he is male.

Decline reason:

This isn't just about two accounts or one article, you seem to be part of a large undisclosed paid editing ring. 331dot (talk) 07:56, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
