ALCOHOL ABUSE AND YOUTH IN NAMIBIA

edit

Alcohol Abuse is becoming a huge problem in [Namibia] and alot of organisations are working towards finding the possible solutions to the problem. There had been an increase in the alcohol comsumption compared to the past years.People now tend to consume more alcohol than the required limit. GR&AP is currently looking on the problem of underage drinking due to its legal findings and the fact that alcohol appears to be extremely common in Namibia. The Ministry of Health conducted a research on drug and alcohol use amongst Namibians and found that 53.5% of youths aged 13-30 use alcohol. In a 2006 [UNICEF] study it was found that, in a focus group of 10-14 year olds, one in ten had already used alcohol. In 1992 it was repoprted that 19.8% of 13-16 year olds had used alcohol and By 1998, that number went up to 50%.
