Hi! Here are my notes:

  • The section on the founders isn't really necessary since Wikipedia has an article on both people, Samuel Orchart Beeton and Isabella Beeton. Anything about them that is about the magazine should be included in the history section. I also need to note that this section is also unsourced, which poses issues when it comes to both original research and verifying the material. Sourcing is somewhat of an issue as a whole with the sections. Something to keep in mind is that we can only summarize what has already been stated in the source material - we cannot theorize about their roles.
  • I'm concerned that some of the sections come across as reflective essays on the time period and the magazine. Topics like corsets, ideology of domesticity, and taste were mentioned in the magazine, however the sections on them are very general and broad, giving more of a general history perspective on the matter. The magazine is mentioned, but it's not the focal point of the sections.
The sections should be more like this:
  1. Background
  2. Publishing history
  3. Content (ie, what topics did they brush on, were there any regular columns, advice pages, and the like)
  4. Reception
There could also potentially be a section on the Book of Household Management, as some of the supplements were later collected there. With the content, the main thing to remember is that the section shouldn't go into a huge amount of detail as far as the topics go - it should really only give a general overview or a list of topics. The only time I'd go into more detail is if multiple historians have stated that the magazine had a large impact on certain areas of life and fashion. Essentially, the page should only be about the magazine.
  • I would heavily recommend looking at articles on other magazines to see how they're laid out. Even if they're different types of magazines, the general layout will still roughly be the same, which is what I based the above section formats on. I recommend Amazing Stories, The Covent-Garden Journal, and Billboard (magazine). The Lady's Realm is the one that is likely to be the most similar and it's definitely something that I recommend looking at.

I hope that this all helps. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:17, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
