The entry for this artist was cut down considerably and I don't see why, so I placed it back to the previous, informative version. Is there a reason it was cut down?

I presume you are referring to Carter (Artist)? If so, it is because Wikipedia does not allow original research in its articles. The only way that it can ensure that there is no "original research" in an article is to have every statement that is not "common knowledge" referenced to a reliable source. This is done either by inline citing, or providing references at the end of the article. The Wikipedia:Manual of style also prefers that there is not excessive quoting from references within the article, although a line or two (followed by a link to the source) can be used to illustrate the text.

I will be reverting the article back to the stub version. I would welcome your participation in creating a better article, but I would request that you read up the Wikipedia manuals and help pages so the improved article reflects the required standards. LessHeard vanU 19:12, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I've reverted your deletion of text from the article Carter (Artist), as Wikipedia MoS for biographies is to list the legal name first, followed by the pseudonym, even when the article is titled with the pseudonym.
