Hi... in answer to your question, Celine doesn't write her songs. That's why she isn't a songwriter. The source is simply go buy her albums and see for yourself that she doesn't write her songs...

Question

edit

Hello there, I saw you posted on my talk page. Considering you seem to be quite open to newcomers, I'll just ask you my question right away: I've been doing research and have been editing an article on the Arms Industry - I used a picture that is copyrighted from Oxfam. I wasn't too sure about whether or not I would be allowed to actually use it, so I marked the copyright status as "uncomfirmed".

African and Caribbean Studies

edit

Hi Journalist - Happy New Year, and I hope you get your computer fixed soon.

I write to ask if you would be interested in helping create an article on "African and Caribbean Studies", a subject which is being offered in more and more universities throughout the world? I notice from your user page that you are interested in History and Anthropology, and seem to be quite an experienced Wikipedian, so I thought you may be a good person to ask. The reason I wanted to start this article is that I have an interest in Caribbean history and culture, particularly that of Guyana, where I worked for two years. I've created some articles on Guyanese writers, (for example) Wilson Harris, Roy Heath, and Fred D'Aguiar, and while researching the latter, noticed that he had read African and Caribbean Studies at Kent in 1985 (I think that Kent was one of the first Universities in England to offer the subject). However, my own expertise lies in computing, engineering and socialist history, so I hope you will be able to assist.

Hope you can help, and your machine is back to full fitness soon! All the best for 2006!  Camillus talk 19:27, 3 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello...

edit

I respect your handling of the Dion FAC. I've only been "there" in FAC for a couple months, compared to a couple of years at plugging away on articles that interest me, and it's a whole other world of stress and contentiousness. The process is weird (and I'm obviously no fan of it as it is right now), but I believe in, if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger... ;) --Tsavage 18:37, 18 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Surprise

edit

Yeah, I noticed that earlier when the size of FAC was cut in half (finally!). I'm rather surprised as well; I wasn't entirely convinced by the arguments of plagiarism and I'm not sure about the vocal profile section, so I left my support alone, but I think it would be beneficial for the community if the concerns of the objectors were taken care of, at least to some degree. I think those two that I just mentioned were the primary ones. If you'd like I can take a look at some of the text and try to do some minor rewriting, but I'm not sure about the vocal information. Including her range would probably be a bad idea (based on that discussion you linked to on FAC), but I can understand including a section that talks about her training and how her voice has changed through her career. I don't want to see valuable users like Tsavage get more frustrated with the process, and I want our articles to get better, so if you can (once your finals are over!), let's take a look at that and see if it might be improved further. I'd be happy to do some more digging on proquest. But anyway, congrats on the accomplishment, and I'm glad I was able to help make that FA count go up just a little bit more =). Hope your exams go well. --Spangineer (háblame) 23:29, 19 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi, my dear Orane!

edit

Hi Journalist! Of course I'll have a go at your user page - my pleasure =) I must tell you, however, that I think it's already great. Unlike Ta bu's or Katefan0's, yours is pretty well organized, it's harmoniously distributed, and it has a good color selection. Nevertheless I'll try to change the borders and enhance the images insertion. I'll also design an alternative color theme so you can pick the one you like the most. Just give me a day, please - I'd like to experiment around before submitting the final versions to you ;) Sounds good, Orane? Kisses! – Phædriel tell me - 00:13, 20 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Aaa-rite - I broke my promise: I actually took less than a day ;) As I told you before, my dear O, your page is extremely complex, so I had two options: the start-from-scratch one or a more conservative approach, namely, making a new general layout and small enchancements in the design at certain points. You'll forgive for choosing the second option, basically because the first one can take me several days, and might not be of your liking (I prefer never to touch the internal structure of an user page, and leave that to its owner).
As I promised you, I've made two versions of your user page, with the elements you requested (well, more or less ;-), and I've placed both of them at my Sandbox. The one on top has a "blueish" theme, according to the borders. My only caveats with that version (which is imho more attractive from a visual point of view) are that the "Administrator" banner breaks the background color (thus I removed it - but please, feel free to re-add it) and that it displays great in Firefox, but IE has some instability with certain wikicodes, and may display it incorrectly sometimes (not 100% of the time tho). Still, in my humble opinion, it is the best version (but hey, it's your page, O, not mine! ;-) The second version is a more conservative looking one, closer to Ta Bu's page and your original background (although I enhanced it by making it look uniformly white). Considering your request, you may like this one better - or not. Again, your call.
Well, my dear Orane, I hope this serves you well. If you're not completely satisfied, please just let e know, and I'll do my best to enhance it further. Btw, I simply loved your work at Celine Dion - someday, drop by my page and we'll talk more about music. Kisses! – Phædriel tell me - 06:17, 20 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sup sup my dear O! Again, you're too kind - I'm very flattered that you trust so much on my rather intuitive design abilities, and rest assured that I'll do my best not to let you down. Please, feel free to edit my sandbox at will; in fact, it would be a great guidance when redesigning your user page. If you want, just change the basic contents you wish to arrange, and leave the design to me. And regarding payment - forget about it! Your friendship is all I could ever hope in return, and I wish to earn it by more than merely lending you a hand with your page. That, and some chatter about music - I hope you like Anastacia =) Kisses! – Phædriel tell me - 02:36, 21 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Dear O, I've been working on your page for a few hours and I can't think of any way to enhance it further right now. Can you have a look at it and see if it's OK with you? I've placed it here. I've also been able to detect and correct the display error I mentioned above, so it should look perfectly both at IE and FireFox. I hope you like it, but if you think something else should be changed, just ask away =) Kisses! – Phædriel tell me - 00:09, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hun, one more thing: I made an alternative design without the separation lines at the first subtable (the My work on Wikipedia one). Personally I prefer it that way; you can find this other version here. Pick the one you like the most =) kisses again, – Phædriel tell me - 00:17, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Awww, you're too kind, O =) I'm so happy you liked it - you know, you really made me blush, and I'm giggling like a little girl, but I love it! ;) I'll display your gifts with gratitude and pride, and I'm extremely honored that you added me to your list at your user page. I wish you the very best with your exams, and please, hurry back! I'll be waiting for you at my Talk page. Thousand kisses! – Phædriel tell me - 02:56, 23 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks and Congrats.

  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

Please see the Scores section on this page for additional information on your job as a judge.

You're correct, the website does state that it peaked at number one in Canada for four weeks. This is interesting because it charted on the airplay chart and not the official Canadian singles chart. Does it qualify for an official position without any success of the solicitated CD single which never charted in the Canadian Top 50? —Eternal Equinox | talk 14:10, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! And I award you The Editor's Barnstar for emancipating the We Belong Together article. You really do deserve this. I'm under the impression that you'll submit it for FAC eventually, but even if it doesn't get promoted, it's probably one of the best articles about a recently released song, and the best about a Carey song. It looks fine to me (is it possible to centre the headings of the infobox? It looks a bit messy in my browser). I can't really see anything missing. Seeing it made me feel that the horrors that some of us went through with these article was worth it — when I think of what they used to look like... Good luck with the FA attempt.--Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:35, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

That was me, but I got logged out by accident. Sorry about that, it's just I have a little OCD and like things being "perfect". It's kind of silly, really! Extraordinary Machine 19:10, 6 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
