Battle of Shiloh

edit

I have copied this from another person's talk page in case you don't get the ping because your main page is incomplete:

I have copies of Cunningham, Sword, Daniel, and McDonough's works on Shiloh at home. I'll try to write a compromise version that actually follows the sources when I get home, unless you think the whole thing is totally undue detail. Hog Farm Talk 18:21, 9 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm somewhat neutral on addition of information, but if done the changes and corresponding citations must agree. It is little additions with bad citations (if any) that caused the article to deteriorate from FA to C-Class. Now that it is back up to GA, I hope to keep it from deteriorating again. I believe Appler was cashiered—Cunningham says "Appler was dismissed" in the footnote at the bottom of his page 171. Why would more info about Appler (even his name) merit inclusion in a long article that already has 274 citations and 25 footnotes? It seems to me a better use of everyone's time would be for Joseph A. Rose to find a C-Class or B-Class military article and upgrade it to GA. For example, Battle of New Market is lucky to have a B-Class rating, has some controversy, and has importance—it would be great to have that fixed up. TwoScars (talk) 19:07, 9 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
