Folding@home cores edit

Hey Johnnaylor, From the stats page looks like your the #1 contributor to the Folding@home page. I looked back at your contributions and saw that you worked on the cores a bit. I don't know if you've noticed, but I moved that list to its own article, called Folding@home cores. Edit away there! :) I'm trying to add lots of information about each core. I'm making progress slowly but surely, as I can't say anything at all without at least one citation! My goal is to get the article to the point where someone else will remove the "New Article" flag. I think I'd get into trouble if I removed it myself! Just thought I'd let you know about it. The information in the article was originally out-of-date by quite a bit, so I'm pulling information from a number of sources to get things accurate. I've also mentioned this new article in the Talk pages of both the F@h and Folding@home cores, including my reasons for moving the list over. And btw, my F@h clients: http://www.jessevictors.com/files/clients/summary.html Jessemv (talk) 02:35, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Folding@home article edit

Hey Johnnaylor. Couple things of good news. First, I FINALLY put userboxes on my page, because they're just that awesome. Also, the WikiOgre article greatly amused me, and I'm pondering whether I fit into that category or not. Perhaps I do. Anyway, I don't know if you've checked out the Folding@home article yet, but it is now covered in a thick layer of citations and has lots of new material to boot. I can't believe that some statements have sat there for five years, and some of the super-jumbled paragraphs have lived there even longer! Everything should be cleaned up now, and I'm kind of running out of important things to add, so I think I'm mostly done editing it for the moment. One of the things that still needs to be done is some of those recent papers are just links. I'm not sure how to put in all the proper stuff (I don't even know what most of those numbers/values mean anyway) but perhaps you don't either. Anyway I'm just pointing it out. Basically, if you haven't already, check out the Folding@home article. Ta-dum! Now it looks legit and can finally serve as a super-explanatory ad. :D Anything else you think I should add before I start crawling back into my WikiOgre cave? And I don't know about you, but my computer just seems so unnaturally quiet without the humming of the fan. :) Jessemv (talk) 04:13, 12 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Good Article? edit

Hey again Johnnaylor, I've been working heavily on the Folding@home article. I'd like it to become a Good Article, and perhaps eventually a Featured Article, but we'll see how that goes. Its much better now than how it looked like in early August but as the primary author of the article I'd like your opinion on any other changes I should make to it. I have yet to deal with the "Estimated Energy Use and Efficiency" section, but at this point it looks like that will be deleted unless Dr. Pande or anyone else will get back to me with any external analysis. I think I'll just cut and paste it to the talk page so people can still look at it if they like. I would like to invite you to help me fix up the article during the Good Article nomination process, although I will be asking others for their suggestions before I start that. The nomination process will probably start in two weeks or so I think. Thanks. Jessemv (talk) 01:15, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

There have been some significant changes in the article, so if you have a moment please reread it. I'd still like any suggestions so I can keep improving it. Jessemv (talk) 04:46, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think it's really close to GA status. If you have a moment, please let me know what you think. If you have any fixes that need to be made, I'll be happy to do my best to apply them. I'd like to finish off this project. Best, Jesse V. (talk) 17:10, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Your GA nomination of Folding@home edit

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Folding@home you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria.   This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. From the first sight it seems quite solid, though I already noticed some minor issues. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 22:48, 5 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'll be doing what I can to take care of some of the problems. Feel free to help out though! :D Jesse V. (talk) 03:06, 6 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
After reviewing the article I concluded that it  Pass the check against WP:GACR, so it is now listed as good article on Computing and engineering topic. Thanks for this nomination! — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 10:25, 7 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for not alerting you earlier, but I've opened F@h up for peer-review. There's already been quite a bit of suggestions which I'm steadily addressing, but if you'd like to add to them or something, check out Wikipedia:Peer review/Folding@home/archive1. Jesse V. Laws of the Game edit

Hi John,

You recently added to Laws of the Game (association football) that Goal-line technology "was first used in competition at the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup." Would you be able to provide a reference for this statement? Cheers --19:43, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Certainly, I have added one as requested. Johnnaylor (talk) 13:20, 6 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
