Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy

Accept reason:

Done (we think)! Yamla (talk) 11:54, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm a little confused, are these blocks intended to affect logged-in users? I'm logged in and seeing the following notice:

Editing from 165.225.38.0/24 has been blocked (disabled) by user:‪Yamla ‬for the following reason(s):

The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open or anonymizing proxy. ...

In any event, this is a corporate firewall—is it likely that someone is running an open proxy on this CIDR block? Thanks. —johndburger 21:23, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi johndburger, the "corporate firewall" does indeed act as a proxy/VPN. However, if noone objects, your experience and trustworthiness would make me grant WP:IPBE. Yamla? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:01, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Checkuser needed: Any concerns from your side either? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:03, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@ToBeFree: Thanks for checking with a CU first; I would just go ahead and grant IPBE in this case. Johndnurger has 11 years and several thousand edits on various wiki projects under their belt, so if they need IPBE to edit from work, we should grant it (assuming Yamla is ok with it).-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:07, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much for the quick response and confirmation :) Interesting: Fourteen years, even, pre-Single-User-Login. So yes then. Will grant IPBE pending Yamla's okay ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:10, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I have unblocked the /24 and reblocked the /17 just without the logged in users blocked. They provide colocation, so it's not simply a proxy. If Yamla thinks it still needs to be targeted, I have no objection to them restoring another version of the block. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 01:00, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hey folks, many thanks for your quick response(s) and flexibility. —johndburger 01:30, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
(I was offline during this.) No objections from my side! --Yamla (talk) 11:53, 27 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
