Why did you remove this from the Marlboro NJ Article
editThis is all 100% factual. It is in the news and merely states fact. Kindly explain why you removed this.
Due to a court ruling in NJ, All towns are required to accept low income housing. The willingness of Property Owners of the towns to accept this housing is not considered. + + Rich towns such as Marlboro have in the past been able to pay other towns to build the required housing. Recent legistation being passed by the NJ assembly ( June 16, 2008 ) would outlaw this practice. + + As a result, Marlboro will be forced to build 1000 low income housing units, despite widespread disapproval of the taxpayers of Marlboro. Many anticipate a rise in crime in the township as a result. JohnGalt65 (talk) 15:00, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- The legislative changes, still not finalized, will affect all New Jersey municipalities, not just Marlboro. The COAH rules require all municipalities to plan for low and moderate income housing. Just as with paying taxes, these regulations are imposed regardless of whether (or not) property owners accept the rules. That's how laws work, like it or not (as a New Jersey taxpayer, more often not). Wikipedia requires reliable and verifiable sources to support claims made in articles. While I don't doubt that there may be disapproval or even concerns of increased crime, there are no independent sources from books, magazines or newspapers to support the claims. As such, the details have been removed. I have found some details that are Marlboro-specific about a recent agreement to build units outside of Marlboro and will add that to the article. If you can find any sources about local disapproval or crime increases, I will be happy to help you add the details in the correct format. Alansohn (talk) 15:39, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
- Take a look at the Marlboro Township, New Jersey article, which I have updated (with a reliable source) to describe a recent affordable housing transaction and proposed changes in legislation. 16:36, 25 June 2008 (UTC)
