Hi there, I'm an Afrikaans speaking South-African citizen, living in the Free State and interested in various subjects. I am involved in the Afrikaans Wikipedia since 12 June 2005, but visits the English Wikipedia frequently. My aim is to make useful contributions and approvements to the English- as well as the Afrikaans Wikipedias, so don't be surprised if my name pops up at one of your articles from time to time!

Welcome edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. You are wrong, sorry, about the boomerang caption you edited out. A right-handed boomerang cannot simply become a left-handed one by throwing it from the other end. The airfoils are both created to provide lift 'towards the center' whether thrown from either end. A rightie, thrown left-handed would crash. Viewed with the "lifting side" of the wings facing up, a rightie spins counterclockwise, and a leftie spins clockwise. The airfoils won't work spun backwards, for the same reason planes can't fly backwards even when they are upside down. Pedant 06:07, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it - but I'm still not convinced:-) I never have thrown a boomerang, however, if you can tell me how you can determine, according to the photograph, that it is a "righty", maybe you will convince me. Obviously, we cannot see the other side, but the side that faces upwards seems quite symetric and the profile on either side looks about the same to me - therefore it all depends on how it is shaped at the other side.... or am I stupid?
