Hmmmm..i take in your point- i am not iranian by the way. And i am not making up facts. When the Akp party tried to repeal the hijab ban...lots of women went on a protest march against this. What kind of women do you think they were?--IsaKazimi (talk) 07:29, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

I am not sure what kind of women they were. I assume some were Sunnis, some Alevis, some Atheists. They were probably mostly people who believed that repealing the hijab ban is a step towards bringing an authoritarian Islamic rule, similar to the one in Iran. I do not believe that is the case.
Like most Alevis, I do not care what people wear, eat, drink as long as they do not impose their beliefs on others. Alevis do mean it when they say they love and respect all people. You can see many Alevi women wearing scarves and some not wearing scarves either during Cem or during their daily lives. Assuming Alevis are against women’s right to wear scarves is at best misguided. I hope this point is clear by now. If not, go to youtube and type in Semah or Cem and you will see what I am talking about.
However Alevis are against Sunni or Shia fundamentalists taking over the government and imposing their beliefs and values on the rest of the society. Alevis strongly support secular government as the most fair form of government. They do not believe the current Turkish Republic is truly secular.
