edit

The edits made help simplify and clarify the information - grammatical errors have been fixed and the format completely rearranged. Originally, there was an overwhelming amount of information - about AIP and AHL - at the end of the “Bacteria” section, so taking that information and splitting it into two separate sections later on to explain how the quorum sensing mechanisms can vary between two (very significant) groups of Bacteria was a great way to solve the problem. Replacing that with an explanation that sets up what will be mentioned next also really helps improve the overall flow of the article. In “Mechanisms”, while the original had one large paragraph stating all the facts, the new version begins by stating all of the general points, then by building up on those ideas in later sections - much easier to read and understand. More citations from journal articles have been added, making the article more reliable. There is one section of the article that could be rearranged for better flow - in “an autoinducer; to detect...” the semicolon is actually distracting and the sentence would make sense without. There are a few accidental spelling errors that can be fixed in the last few sentences. One edit that could help further is the organization of the first paragraph - the switch from talking about the types of phenotypes to talking about how quorum sensing is based on local densities is abrupt, so starting a new paragraph or separating the sentences for better visualization of the points would help. Additionally, the original article mentioned diffusion as an important reason why quorum sensing is dependant on nearby population densities and highlights its importance. Although this same point is made in the new version, the full explanation was removed so it actually de-emphasizes this point and makes it seem irrelevant.
