Please support the Sustainability Initiative! edit

Please support the Sustainability Initiative!

Hello Jirka Dl, I saw that you are one of the authors of Greta Thunberg article. Because I am looking for ways to reduce the environmental impact of Wikipedia itself, I wanted to ask you to check out the Sustainability Initiative and to add your name to the list of supporters so that I can show that many community members are behind this effort. Thanks! --Gnom (talk) 08:37, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Gnom:, it is honour for me to support this initiative - I will inform also some other Czech "environment friendly" users. Jirka Dl (talk) 09:43, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Wow, that's great, děkuji! --Gnom (talk) 10:05, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Gnom: once more – I posted info about Sustainability Initiative also on FB page of Czech users and I hope it will have some results - at least immediately was translated the Initiative page on Meta to Czech, even it has proof read now and I see some Czech signatures on the list now, I hope more of them will come. I will make some remarks on the talk page of the Initiative. Nice day. Jirka Dl (talk) 05:14, 5 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
That's so cool – thank you and Frettie and Bazi! --Gnom (talk) 08:38, 5 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

School strike for climate edit

No need to apologize for this revert, I was just about to revert the edit myself. Thank you for your attentiveness! AnarchistiCookie (talk) 13:50, 7 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not helpful edit

Please consider editing your own comment be deleting the swipe against editors you imply are engaged in some sort of bad faith battle to suppress Greta's story. First off, at article talk we are supposed to discuss article content, not behavior of other editors. Second, the topic of climate change has been a ligthning rod in the past, and the wars fought over it were so bad that the arbitration committee issued a ruling... see in particular the sections of principles and remedies at [{WP:ARBCC]]. This is intended as a friendly note to keep the dialogue at the article talk page collaborative instead of tribal, trusting instead of cynically looking for ulterior motives. Thanks for reading. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 12:16, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi @NewsAndEventsGuy: - thank you for your comment - first of all - if I did something wrong adding my comment, this happened by my not perfect knowledge of technical problems of editor - as I tried to include my comment, editing conflict happened and probably I did something wrong. :-( And maybe also my English is not so perfect so you could understand something wrong - I understand your proposal and I am against, but this does not mean, that I have any doubts about you personally, and I was not thinking about "ulerior motives" of you. I think you personally are doing well about trying to improve the article itself. Nice day. Jirka Dl (talk) 12:30, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
No worries, consider us friends. However, it does not matter whether you were thinking of me or someone else. My first comment still applies. See WP:Casting aspersions That link describes the end result after ongoing, big problems. Your one comment is hardly in this category. It is the spirit of the thing I am trying to convey. If you hint at ulterior motives by one tribe of editors, that sows seeds of WP:BATTLE attitude. Let's just not go there, and then we sow seeds of being able to challenge each other and disagree but as friends. That's all I mean by asking you to revise your remark. NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 12:48, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi @NewsAndEventsGuy:, good idea, I deleted the text - you know my opinion "No merge", and that all I wanted to say. And really thanks for comments - I always try to be non-conflict and constructive, but sometimes also make mistakes - I am the "main editor" of Global warming page on cswiki and connected climate pages there and still I am quite successful in solving all conflicts friendly and "evidence based". Nice day. Jirka Dl (talk) 13:04, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for understanding and your work on the cs wiki! Too bad we do not have a universal translator and could have all this wonderful talent just working on a single encylopedia! NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 13:29, 14 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of BlenderKit edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on BlenderKit requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DS Alert Climate Change edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in climate change. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hi... if you don't know, that template is strictly FYI. It is part of the procedures for "DS", and is fully explained by clicking on the links in the template itself. I placed the same thing on my own page, and will try to make sure recent Climate crisis editors all have one. No biggie. Just a procedural thing. But be sure to read about DS if you don't already know. Carry on! NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 19:24, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi @NewsAndEventsGuy: nice to hear from you and thank you for information - yes the template could be little surprising for me, but not too much. I am mostly editing Czech Wikipedia and I am trying to take care about "climate change" pages in cswiki - but I am almost the only one having sometimes some scientific support of non-wikipedians. Quite often I am fighting with some deniers and very strange anonymous editors, but at least "Global warming" page on cswiki is in quite good condition. I was thinking about joining WikiProject Climate Change, but I am afraid that my English is not good enough for that. I must say that I use enwiki quite often for translating some climate articles, but I see that even here the progress is not very fast. Jirka Dl (talk) 20:12, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
Awesome! Thanks for your work at the cswiki page, sorry to hear you've got deniers over there NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 21:42, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
