Electrically Powered Full Race Skateboard

The first powered skateboard was patented by Louis Finklestein in 1991 ((US Patent Office)(Electrically Powered Skateboard)). The Finklestein electriacally powered skateboard design put the power from the electric motor directed to one of the four main skteboard wheel or wheels. This configuration was followed in various rendetions and patents with all delivering the power to one or more of the skateboards wheels. All of the configurations utilizing this design were seen as altering the performanc so adversley that the skateboarders never appreciated the set up or the overall performance as they attributed this power arrangment to so adverly affect the dynamis that it was no longer a vehicle that performed anything like a skateboard. And its popularity never achieved any real overwhelming demand. It was not until the summer of 2006 that James Hawkins an entrepeneur crafted his version of a fifth wheeled configuration, with the power wheel being a fifth wheel placed behind the rear trucks and supported by two swing arms that attached to the rear trucks slaving the power wheel to follow at 90 degrees or perpindicular to the rear axle of the rear trucks of the skateboard. This configuration allowed the skateboard platform and all associated parts and wheels of the skateboard to be almost totally unincumbered and with little impediment to the original skateboard thus allowing the skateboard to remain with almost the full dynamics and performance of its original design. With the skateboards wheels unincumbered by the addition of the power-train or propulsion system the performance remained almost devoid of impediments caused by powering the skateboard or vehicle. This proved to be the answer to why the earlier versions of the electrically powered skateboard never realized popularity. The X-Calibur Electrically Powered Full Race Skateboard is the creation of James Hawkins who in 2008 began seeking a Patent for his configuration and as of 2009 was awarded a patent pending number(US Patent Office). The X-Calibur was the first electrically powered motorized skateboard ever manufactured as an electrically powered motorized racing skateboard and as of 2011 was being manufactured by the X-Calibur Skateboard Manufacturing Company which was established by James Hawkins and his partners Gregg Cassity and the Lt. Col. Billy & Betty Brown. As a result of the break through in design the X-Calibur is fully accepted by the skateboard community and the popularity of electric power boarding is growing fast. The X-Calibur Performance Powered Skateboard Racing League was created to accomodate the newly created racing machine and subsequently the NAPSR, The National Association Of Powered Skateboard Racing was born to perpetuate the sport in a favorable light and to establish the guidelines that would regulate the new sport of "Powered Skateboard Racing" ensuring that through sanctioniing the NAPSR could conduct racing of their new craft and sport in as safe a manner as humanly possible with empasis on the safety of the athlete, the safety of the fans and the staff of the venueing organization.
