November 2021 edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at Ewan McGregor, you may be blocked from editing. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 01:44, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history at Ewan McGregor shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Jake Wartenberg (talk) 03:02, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock reviewed|1 look lads I didn’t mean to cause anger with my edits I just wanted to change that word due to personal opinion . If you intend to keep me banned please don’t make it indefinite or just simply ban my account not my IP address. I promise not to this kind of thing againJimmyLough (talk) 14:03, 9 November 2021 (UTC)|decline=You are blocked, not banned. (blocks and bans are different here) The block is on you as a person, not just your account, which is why the underlying IP is blocked, to prevent block evasion. If you wish to edit, you must make an unblock request that tells us what constructive contributions you wish to make to this project to write an encyclopedia of human knowledge, and also tell how you will handle disputes about your edits. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 14:25, 9 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I would like to say I am sorry for any anger I caused with my poor edits. I would like to say that if I do get unbanned I would handle disputes to my edits totally differently than before. I would first do research into the topic before I make an edit and then if there is a dispute I would engage in positive conversation with the disputer and come to a calm conclusion. I would only use proper evidence to back up my argument and if I didn’t have any I would not argue against the disputer. Also I would like to my constructive contributions to historical pages as I’m into history and want to fix and historical inaccuracies I see on the pages. I want to say that if I do get unbanned I will not go against Wikipedia editing policies and I will take editing more seriously and use the edit mentor before editing. Many thanks JimmyLough (talk) 16:48, 9 November 2021 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Thanks Jake Wartenberg. Successful unblock appeals are depressingly rare, so its nice to have the occasional good outcome. Welcome back JimmyLough. -- Euryalus (talk) 21:00, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Euryalus, I think the unlock request conveys an understanding of the reason for the block and describes how the user intends to alter their behavior. So, it is fine with me if you would like to unblock. Jake Wartenberg (talk) 20:44, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
