--Greater Manchester--

Kindly refrain from vandalism on pages associated with Greater Manchester. The consensus is to use the current county/metropolitan borough and mention that historically these areas area part of Lancashire. Thank you Man2 (talk) 23:04, 1 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'd just like to reitterate what Man2 says above. On Wikipedia, places are described as being in their modern administrative counties. This doesn't always fit with some people's opinions, but it saves a lot of time and wasted discussion if we stick to the established rules and the verifiable facts. vandalism!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the hell are you talking about, have just read the so called rules on vandalism at what point have I put in crude obscene or nonsence info. Bury for example is within the historic boundries of lancashire despite that it is also in the modern county of greater manchester, if me changing this constitutes vandalism then your clearly need to get out more! By putting correct info but it goes against whatever so called consensus is peddled on your farcical encyclopedia you feel a need to bully and threaten other people. The administrative (in its legal term) county of Greater Manchester has not existed since 1986 even though nev1 seems to think it still does. Im not getting into a debate over this i was a big wikipedia fan until today but by doing what is right it would appear that i have upset the wikipedia mafia so dont worry i wont be using you again i will get my correct info from elsewhere.

The accepted consensus is to place the area in the current Metropolitan Borough/County in the lead of the article then later mention the area lies within the historic county of Lancashire. This keeps the peace. Nobody disputes that historically Bury is indeed with the boundaries of the county of Lancashire (along with Wigan/Bolton/Salford etc etc) however current information needs to be mentioned in the lead. Please reconsider leaving Wiki as its clear you could offer some valuable contributions. Thanks. Man2 (talk) 09:23, 3 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
