An editor has asked for a discussion on the deprecation of Template:English variant notice. Since you've had some involvement with the English variant notice template, you might want to participate in the discussion if you have not already done so.Godsy(TALKCONT) 07:45, 14 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Draft:Kiki Sanford

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Draft:Kiki Sanford, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Kiki Sanford. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 07:04, 19 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

No, THANK YOU. Getting a wiki article approved 1 minute after I posted it may be some sort of record. I really appreciate your diligence.TheBawbb (talk) 03:35, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

ICC

edit

I see you reverted two edits I made at the International Christian Church. I am curious to know what you view was incorrect with those two edits? JamieBrown2011 (talk) 07:34, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@JamieBrown2011: Speculation, primary unreliable source, and seriously, they're not accredited. You can't accredit yourself. If you believe the material should be included then take it to the talk page there, but it's unlikely to be included. Jerod Lycett (talk) 07:37, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
You may has misread my edit, I was noting that they are NOT accredited. JamieBrown2011 (talk) 07:39, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
@JamieBrown2011: It already states they're not accredited. Adding anywhere outside the ICC and quotes around degrees adds nothing. They are symbolic, as is stated. Jerod Lycett (talk) 07:43, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
OK, fair enough. And the stuff I put in the LEAD, what was wrong with that?JamieBrown2011 (talk) 07:45, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
@JamieBrown2011: It's speculation, and isn't relevant. That and icochotnews.com is not WP:RS, so the citation would need removed anyway. With the citation removed, the quote would need removed, so it's moot. Just so you know, there is a constant background noise of bias and POV issues at ICC and Kip McKean related articles here, so you have to have really ironclad stuff if you want changes, and the best way to get anything done is to post on the talk page first. Jerod Lycett (talk) 07:53, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Why would the Hotnews website be regarded as not a RS? It has an editorial board. It has a professional journalist on the board writing commentary. JamieBrown2011 (talk) 08:09, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
@JamieBrown2011: It's a cross between PR and a newsletter. All of the staff are "editors". Post it at Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard If you think it should pass, they'll look at it and give a decision. Jerod Lycett (talk) 08:17, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Regex for BRFA

edit

Hi Jerodlycett. Would you be against posting the regex you're using for your BRFA? I'm relatively new to regex and have only used it to handle simple things. Your bot's regex appears fairly complicated and I think having a look at it could be helpful in learning how regex can be used for more complicated tasks. This request isn't made to evaluate your bot and I won't be commenting on the BRFA; this is only for my own education. I'd appreciate it! Thanks. ~ RobTalk 23:35, 29 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@BU Rob13: I just didn't want to clutter the bot request.

Convert to MDY format

  • (\d{1,2}) (January|February|March|April|May|June|July|August|September|October|November|December) (\d{3,4}) with $2 $1, $3 to convert from DMY.
  • \{\{Use mdy dates\|date=(January|March|February|April|May|June|July|August|September|October|November|December) \d{4}\}\} with {{Use mdy dates|{{subst:DATE}}}} to update the tag.
  • (\d{4})-01-(\d{2}) with January $2, $1 etc to convert from ISO.

Fibrosis

edit

Hi there, I was having a look at what's happened to the Fibrosis article since I edited it Ausust 21 (my IP address isn't static), and I'm puzzled by your repeatedly removing that other IP editor's additional citation. What's wrong with it? I'm asking out of honest curiosity and desire to learn, and I have nothing to do with the person who keeps adding that source. —2601:19A:4000:4A02:B5D7:85CB:E423:F5B2 (talk) 16:50, 29 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@2601:19A:4000:4A02:B5D7:85CB:E423:F5B2: First, may I invite you to create a free, non-email require, account here? If you already have one and want to keep things separate, it may classify as a valid alt. We, and you can ask @Doc James:, don't allow primary sources like that. It would likely have passed under the radar, except for two things, first they were spamming it across a lot of articles, which still would have passed my uneducated glance, and second they were replacing other citation with it, which told me it was bad and to revert (and ultimately report). Jerod Lycett (talk) 22:11, 29 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi again. I actually do have a wiki account, I just find I'm more motivated to actually edit when I'm not logged in. Thanks for answering; I had missed that they were replacing citations with the one they wanted to add. Good catch on the spammer, and happy editing! —2601:19A:4000:4A02:B5D7:85CB:E423:F5B2 (talk) 11:17, 30 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
