Stuart Sutcliffe

edit

Your contribution[1] to The Beatles better serve the Stuart Sutcliffe article. While Sutcliffe may be somehow influential, even brief additions about his career in the band might be WP:TRIVIA, and incremental sins against concision in a long article with many potential subtopics.

"[A]nd in January 1960 Lennon's art school friend Stuart Sutcliffe joined on bass" is still more than Norman Chapman or that Australian tour drummer got. / edgarde 00:01, 1 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Beatles article length

edit

Hi Jeff.

I'm sorry to remove your contribution for the 2nd time. It's good stuff, but The Beatles is already considered too long, so we need to remove as much as possible that wouldn't be of interest to the average reader.

Great place for your last few changes would include:

It might be a good idea to add a Notes section to the table in line-ups. Interested? I'd ask first in Talk:The Beatles line-ups before making a major change like that, but let me know if you need help reconfiguring the table in that article.

Sorry again to keep reverting you. I hope you don't hate me yet. / edgarde 23:23, 5 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just can't win, can I? Do you mean a Notes section in the table to include why they joined/quit and how good they were? --Jeff Bongi 00:12, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I just made a quick proposal in Talk:The Beatles line-ups. Brief notes might fit in the table, more detailed info can go an (also proposed) artist profile section. I'd recommend waiting to see the reaction on that Talk page before proceeding in that article; otherwise there's a risk of trampling other editors' hard work. However, if they think it's a good fit, let me know if you need help with the table or anything else.
Also, articles already exist for The Quarrymen, and even a few short-term members such as Colin Hanton and Peter Shotton. You can probably add to those right way. I'd say WP:Be Bold in those. / edgarde 01:17, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
