December 2017 edit

Hello, I'm 2600:8800:1880:C359:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26. I noticed that you made a change to an article, 2017–18 Albany Great Danes men's basketball team, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.

Hi, I noticed your edit also on Lil Peep and came to find your list of contributions. I am glad that as a student editor you are working on learning about contributing to Wikipedia. However, in order to constructively edit here, you will need to learn the policies and guidelines that govern content creation here. One of the very important policies is the one which relates to biographies of living persons; although Lil Peep is dead, he is still covered as his death was very recent. It is not advisable to add sentences like the one you did about people posting on social media, unless it can be justified as important and relevant to the topic, and on top of that it absolutely must have a reliable secondary source cited, in order to prove what you wrote. If you can't prove what you write on Wikipedia then it is subject to immediate removal, because of a policy we call verifiability. This also applies to basketball players and teams, claims such as "up and coming" or "best shot at the playoffs" are hard to quantify and considered subjective, and since we have a policy holding us to a neutral point of view, we can't use those kinds of statements. Hope this helps you somewhat. Take care, and happy editing! 2600:8800:1880:C359:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 13:42, 8 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
