Hi, thanks for your edit at WP:STUB, but you might want to read some guidelines pages first at CAT:G to a get a feel for what we're looking for in guidelines. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 04:23, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ed Gein songlist

edit

Yes, there is a reason to remove the list of songs. In looking at what was listed, what was included was a listing of essentially non-notable songs by these groups. One band doesn't even have a Wikipedia article, only one song has its own WP article, which is a stub with one sentence of speculation in it, and one other song is only mentioned on the band page as an item of trivia. The reference to "at least two" solo albums by John 5 can't even be verified on his article page. The entire section wasn't removed because the other two paragraphs included an effort to make the content meaningful beyond a barely checkable stark listing of songs. What is intended by the paragraph I removed could have been accomplished by including one song. The trend with the WP:WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography group has been to limit the listing of what essentially amounts to trivia and pop culture mention to those items which are notably and specifically about, or by, the person in question in film, tv, literature and music and to move away from having extensive and exhaustive lists of each and every time the person's name gets mileage in the entertainment field. I see no reason to retain this paragraph and can reasonably state that a consensus would easily be gained to remove it.

This article is one that is slated to be included in the Version 0.7 release of Wikipedia and this is part of the onging effort to polish and improve those articles prior to inclusion. Wildhartlivie (talk) 04:37, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

That... is an excellent point, and one I was not aware of. Thank you for clairifying =). Javascap (talk) 14:58, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Glad to clear it up. It's an exhaustive effort to keep those lists in a meaningful presentation. For what I think is a positive presentation of pop culture presence of a criminal, see Charles Manson. I think we've done a good job in including his pop culture presence without it deteriorating into blatant trivia. Thanks. Wildhartlivie (talk) 20:33, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your request for rollback

edit

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! Thank you very much for taking the time to review my request. I have read over the Vandal and Rollback policies, and think I understand what is ment in both of them. If I DO have any questions, I will make sure to ask. Have a great day! Javascap (talk) 03:59, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Was this an error?

edit

Hi. It looks like you had your right hand on the wrong keys when you typed this. Was this a stylish deliberate mistake or do you want to correct it? :D - Richard Cavell (talk) 10:56, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

That is what is known as a stylish "tpyo". =D. Javascap (talk) 16:20, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Um, your correction still has a mistake in it. Don't worry, I've had editing days like that. - Richard Cavell (talk) 22:31, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

CNN/Sarah Palin

edit

Just a friendly note to let you know I reverted your recent edit to Sarah Palin. Wikipedia "best practices" are that responsibility for properly sourcing material rests with the person who adds it. I'm not questioning you recollection, it's just that one's own memory is not considered a verifiable, reliable source under Wikipedia standards. Even if CNN's first call can be properly sourced, it's probably an unnecessary level of detail for this article (though I won't contest its inclusion), and is probably more appropriate for United States presidential election, 2008, if anywhere.
