Wente Clone edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Wente Clone, but we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. For more information about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, take a look at our Five Pillars. Since I started the Wente Vineyards article, I'll summarize the information from that page and include it in the main Wente article. Happy editing! howcheng {chat} 19:18, 24 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I incorporated the information from that web page into the Wente article, but as I know nothing about wines or wineries, I'd like for you to inspect it and possibly expand it. I read on your user page that you work as a sommelier at Wente so I'm sure you have some good information. However, please note that any edits you make must be in accordance with Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:No original research. Please see Wikipedia:Autobiography for some general guidelines; yes, it's about autobiographies but the general principles are the same. Regards, howcheng {chat} 19:52, 24 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

It looks form your posts that references are publisher right on the article? To avoid copyright issues, is it enough to cite the material in my own words, and then cite the original? I'm new to all this, but would very much like to contribute.

Yes, that's correct. In broad terms, copyright does not apply to facts but only to the expression of those facts. So it's perfectly acceptable (and encouraged, even) for you read an article and rewrite it for use in Wikipedia.

I'm aware of a lot of the history regarding the Wente family that goes back five generations. The source comes from the Wente family. Is that usable?

Unfortunately, no. It needs to be published somewhere first so that others can verify your work if necessary. It doesn't have to be an online resource, but it does need to be published in a reliable source.

Hope that helps! howcheng {chat} 00:11, 26 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

I redirected it for you, but just note for future reference that it's something you can do yourself. See Wikipedia:Redirect and Wikipedia:Be bold in updating pages. Enjoy! howcheng {chat} 16:45, 7 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Empty articles edit

You've just created several winery articles that consist of only an external link. This qulaifies these articles under WP:CSD for speedy deletion. Please don't create articles like these as they look like spam. -- Scientizzle 16:28, 26 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
