Is there any easy way to enter all Atiyah's 200 or so publications into zeteo other than cutting and pasting them 1 by 1? There has been a proposal to get his article on the front page for his birthday next april. R.e.b. (talk) 16:54, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, technically you can easily paste MathSciNet's Bibtex entries featuring Atiyah as an author. Then, you let zeteo parse the whole stuff. You can get all of his work back, too (just search for Atiyah and copy the stuff). There is one concern, though, namely copyright. MSN does not provide tons of material. Do you have another source for the material? But anyway, I guess, you would not want to put all of his 200 publications on his page, right? So perhaps, select some 10 or so, this should not be a copyright infringement. Jakob.scholbach (talk) 18:11, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
I dont particularly want to put all his publications on the page, but some of the other editors seem to have plans to put most of them on; they may not have realized how many there are. My completely uninformed guess is that copyright would not apply to a list of all his publications, especially if we added urls, comments and so on. Another source for this is his collected works. - R.e.b., I think Plclark only wants to have the publications that are actually mentioned in the text. So, instead of (Atiyah 1988a, papers 1) for the first paper, we would write (Atiyah 1952), and the reference would be something like "Atiyah, M. F. A note on the tangents of a twisted cubic. Proc. Cambridge Philos. Soc. 48, (1952). 204--205. Collected Works, vol. 1, paper 1." I think if we include only the papers that we actually talk about in the article, it will be quite managable. By the way, good idea to get him on the main page for his birthday. Unfortunately, as a stupid numerical analysis his work goes way over my head. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 20:44, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- To R.e.b.:I'm not a copyright expert either, I have to say. You might want to have a look at this case study where I put all work of Grothendieck. The list as such is certainly neither interesting nor beautiful. I guess everything should be subsumed in his collected works, so I propose you add these ones to the bibliography.
