"My Brother's Keeper" Image

edit

I hope you don't mind a small bit of editing of the commentary on "My Brother's Keeper", I'm actually the finder, it was in a museum in Athens, Greece not in Italy although it is very old Italian pottery. The Benaki Museum specializes in artifacts from cultures that had an influence on Greece, therefore the Italian pieces. When I first saw it, my reaction was that it probably didn't have anything to do with our Kappa Sigma. You commonly see abbreviations in Greece, for example Pi Phi is an abbreviation for fire extinguisher, which was funny to my sister, a Pi Phi. I assumed it was a common, unrelated to the fraternity abbreviation. However, I took pictures and passed them amongst native Greeks and was surprised that there was no such common usage and the text below was very intriguing. Upon my return to the US I sent national headquarters copies of the photos. I didn't hear anything for a couple years when a young intern called to interview me concerning what he referred to as "The Donnell Vase" for the Caduceus. I never saw an article on the subject. Later I was asked to attend conclave in Richmond, VA about 1995 to discus the find. A couple years ago I was called by an old brother who told me it was now in Bononia Docet. As far as I know, its the only documentary proof of a connection between the 1869 order and the 1400 order, but while I have read Farr's history, I am anything but an expert.
