August 2023 edit

Hello, I'm Knitsey. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Jeremy Roenick, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Knitsey (talk) 04:31, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Jeremy Roenick. Thank you. Untamed1910 (talk) 04:45, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

You are not smart. There is nothing controversial about filling in the blanks. It is already spelled out in his page. I am just providing you with the names and places that are already part of the record. I mean, duh?? Jakekake18 (talk) 04:49, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
What's to stop the next person coming along and writing something awful about him and claiming they knew him xyz. That section technically should be removed as all of it is unreferenced. It has a citation needed notice on it already, so adding more unreferenced information is a no-no. Knitsey (talk) 04:54, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Knitsey - Where did you get this information about me - "Roenick began playing hockey at age four when the parents of a playmate persuaded Roenick's parents to put Jeremy in a hockey program so that their child would be with someone he knew."
You are talking about me. How do you know it is not made up?? But alas, it os talking about me so I added more facts. Tell me how you want me to substanuat something that you have already published?? Jakekake18 (talk) 04:57, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Do you want my mother to sign an affidavit that she and Mrs Roenick used to split driving us to practice at the Milford Ice Pavillion?? Jakekake18 (talk) 05:01, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Do you want Marty Roos family to sign an affidavit that he coached us even though there are pictures all over the rink showing such?? Jakekake18 (talk) 05:03, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Let me know. Do I need my attorney to write a letter attesting to the fact that Jeremy played hockey with his friend (as you have already published on Wiki) so that you can firm up the facts?? Let me know. Jakekake18 (talk) 05:04, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
The part you mentioned above is historical (as in when the article was written), hence the citation needed at the end of the paragraph. If no citation is provided over a period of time then it will be removed. Unfortunately, if there are no reliable sources for your edit then the information can't be added. Wikipedia does not allow people to add just what they want. It has to be verified. Wikipedia tries to be extremely careful about what is added, especially to biographies. There is no citation, as far as i can tell, to the part about saying my parents asked his to come play hockey. Show me where that is. Indo know that he did a Sports Illustrated interview long ago when he talked more in depth about how he he started and it mentioned all.of the details i am giving you. So give me the reference. Although i have a PHD, i must ne dumb as i do not find it. Jakekake18 (talk) 05:08, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thats what I've explained, that paragraph already has a citation needed template. We (Wikipedia) are not going to add to that with even more unreferenced information. Knitsey (talk) 05:11, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
What I would suggest is, you get a second opinion by asking at our Teahouse where you can ask questions, [1] Knitsey (talk) 05:17, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
My friend. I appreciate your volunteering your time to Wikipedia. This is the first time I have ever interacted with Wikipedia about a topic. And I must tell you that I have grown to take much of what I read on Wikipedia as factual because it is in depth and seems so. After this interaction tonight my whole entire view of the veracity of Wikipedia has changed dramatically. It is not an open network of contributions. It is a closely held network of information that us only allowed to be displayed as you people see fit. I am done with Wikipedia. Jakekake18 (talk) 05:16, 26 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Your opinion on the veracity of Wikipeadia should have increased. Wikipedia has strict policies on adding unverified information. But why not use the link I just posted and ask for another opinion. Just be aware that nearly everyone at Wikipedia is a volunteer so you might have to wait a short while for an answer. Give it a go, maybe someone will have a different opnion to me.
