Signing your posts

edit

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --Orange Mike | Talk 00:11, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is this about the username?

edit

Is this about the username? The only real way this is a valid block is if it is to get Jackie to change to another username. We do not block editors on sight for WP:COI, which doesn't actually forbid someone from creating an article they're involved with. -- Ned Scott 05:30, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

To clarify, lets try to help this new user understand our notability criteria, instead of blocking them and confusing the karp out of them. -- Ned Scott 05:38, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
We've directed him to the notability criteria and explained them several times, and it doesn't seem to have helped; there's still no sign that he understands them. I invite you to help him understand them, if you think it should be done in a different way. I don't think anyone would object to an unblock if he seemed likely to make useful contributions, but if he doesn't understand the notability rules, he's just going to do the same thing and get blocked again. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 13:34, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Some advice, avoid creating a brand new page for a while. Give yourself some time to get used to things here. You'll get the hang of it in no time. Feel free to ask me any questions on my talk page or send me an AIM to "Ned Scott". -- Ned Scott 01:48, 4 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi JackieTeal. I will unblock you if you promise not to make articles about college movies (your own, or anyone else's). Our rules for what is okay on Wikipedia can be found at Wikipedia:Notability criteria - I suggest you have a read of them and respond here if there's anything you don't understand. If you are happy to promise not to make articles about such movies, also respond here. Thanks. Neıl 15:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

You recently added a non-notable person to this article. Please refrain from adding this kind of ultra-trivia to Wikipedia articles. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:30, 5 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

By non-notable we generally mean people who don't pass a guideline called WP:BIO, which will explain more. -- Ned Scott 06:21, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
