Black Liberation Theology and Cone articles edit

  • One important point is to keep the separate articles separate. Cone doesn't speak for all BLT, but the BLT article (as of now) comes across as if he does. If you can add views from the other founders, that would be helpful. If there are BLT websites which can be added, that would be helpful. The list of BLT books is useful, and I added the ISBNs to the first few as an example (and italicized the titles). Perhaps someone will follow through with the rest. :-) Also, cherry-picking Cone's statements isn't at all helpful (which was done previously). We are an encyclopedia, not an interest group trying to push one particular viewpoint, but unfortunately these articles have been pulled from one extreme to the other trying to gin up some imagined controversy. • In reply to your comment on my Talk page, that's exactly right. It would be more helpful to focus on his 'less metaphorical' comments, perhaps followed by a short bit about how he uses language to make a point through various means - rather than focusing on the latter even by rebutting them. You see what I mean? Otherwise the picture painted (for too many readers) is still of Cone making (nothing but) 'radical' statements and supporters trying to explain them away. I know the temptation is to address what's currently in the 'media', but in the long run that doesn't do the job. "When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember the professionals use water." Don't let Beck set the terms of engagement. Flatterworld (talk) 20:54, 19 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
