Help me: Signatures

Why should I not be allowed to sign my username on articles I have written myself? i want to get into the horse racing industry, and if I write articles online, I wish to be creditted for it, especially as I will be informing newspaper editors of articles I have written on Wikipedia, and would like my name signed at the bottom to prove I wrote it.

The proof of what you wrote is in the page history, which has your username and which you can link to directly. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia collaboratively written. The articles are not owned by anyone and they will be heavily edited by others and redistributed elsewhere. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
