Welcome!

edit

Hello, JackTinSD, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created was Jack Turner (playwright), which appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Speedy deletion nomination of Jack Turner (playwright)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jack Turner (playwright), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. for (;;) (talk) 18:36, 9 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Jack Turner (playwright). Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. for (;;) (talk) 18:37, 9 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation

edit

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/JackTinWNY, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

I'm not sure why I was blocked. Yes, it's true that I have two accounts: JackTinSD and JackTinWNY. I used JackTinSD while living in San Diego, then when I moved to Buffalo, NY, I changed all my userids and e-mail addresses to JackTinWNY. When I moved back to San Diego two years ago, I reversed the process. Sometimes I mistakenly type JackTinWNY. I was there for nine years, after all. I didn't intend to use the JackTinWNY account since I don't live there any longer. There was no deception intended. I'm not sure what I would have gained by 'editing' the site as two different users. You are certainly welcome to delete the JackTinWNY account, if you wish, since I don't plan on moving back to Buffalo, and I have no desire to use it any longer.

Still, I'm not sure how using these two accounts to perform MINOR EDITS could be considered "abusive." I was making small changes to the site and/or trying to provide the references being demanded. I did this on a couple of different computers at different locations. I'm doing my best to comply with everything that is being asked of me.

However, Victoria Turner (no relation), also known as Wiz, is the director for the musical we are having staged -- even after 6 years of non-use of her account. She and I are most definitely not the same person.
