Your comment on my Talk page edit

Hello - thanks for your comment on my Talk page. I don't phone other Wikipedia editors but I am very happy to take part in an open discussion, preferably on the Talk:Jones Convenience Stores page if it is my edit of the Jones Convenience Stores page you wish to discuss. That way other editors will also be free to contribute. Best wishes. Peteinterpol (talk) 16:06, 26 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello - I would appreciate you helping in building a picture but putting on info from the grocer which was got off companys house is a little bit low. For the record we made a loss of £50,000 because we spent 1.5m on redevelopment. I don't know whether your aware of our business but we are 100 year old company and i would appreciate you perhaps helping me tell our story rather than the reference you added!
Hello JCS1911. Please see the guidance below on this page about conflict of interest. The material on the loss made by the company is reasonable content for Wikipedia which is an impartial encyclopedia, not a forum for advertising or promotion. My aim as an editor is to be impartial and objective, not to help a company to tell its story. Best wishes, Peteinterpol (talk) 09:20, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I am not using this as an advertising tool simply i want to create a more detailed account of how the company has come to be. I have never seen anyone publish references to accounts about non blue chip company's before, have you? I don't think this at all reasonable and will potentially anger a lot of people which of course is not the purpose of wikipedia.
It might be helpful to seek the views of other editors and/or administrators on whether the content you are challenging is appropriate for the article. Peteinterpol (talk) 16:42, 27 October 2011 (UTc)
I believe you have done a good job adding content and organising our site but i still want our accounts for 2011 removed. You ask me to seek peoples views, who would that be? Wikipedia is a powerful tool and i am sure you will agree as you have created a babmington house page they would be offended if some one published there accounts good or bad. I will not ask again and emplore you to remove that reference which is misleading and potentially damaging we as a company did not set this page up and will have no alternative other than asking to have it removed. We have a staff number of over 300 people who may read this and worry about there jobs etc which is not the case at all.
I am very happy to initiate consultation with other editors using the Wikipedia facilities available. Leave that with me, I'll set something moving via the Talk page of Jones Convenience Stores. In terms of your concern about your employees discovering this information, please note that it is already out there on the Internet and in national publications. The information came from the Grocer who in turn obtained it from your publiclly available accounts. Regards, Peteinterpol (talk) 15:15, 28 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Granted but you will have to go through pages on google to find that information which most people wouldn't do. now it is on wikipedia and links etc have been set up to towns etc it is accesible be so many more. It has gone from being a candle in a room to full beam headlights. I am sure you would not like to be in this situation if this was reversed and again any examples on accounts on other pages would be appreciated!
I have copied this page's content to Talk:Jones Convenience Stores and will continue to debate the issue there so that other editors can comment. Peteinterpol (talk) 15:25, 28 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

Hello JCS1911. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Jones Convenience Stores, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to you, your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. 69.181.251.214 (talk) 08:21, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.
