Notes

edit

Firstly, please do not remove the advert tag while the 'article' still has promotional language in it. For example, "The collection was emblazoned with honorary medals, gusts of feathers and scattered gems, emblems glisten with metallic foil and showcased in a vivid colour palette of cabaret, mink, chestnut, rouge and amethyst." Is that encyclopaedic? I think not. Secondly, can I ask you to have a look at both WP:COI and WP:SPAM? Any questions, please contact me (or, as I shall not be at home this weekend) MelanieN or the admin JamesBWatson (one or the other should be around) - or any regular editor. I have given those two not because of any connection but because I know them to have a good knowledge of what's what. Peridon (talk) 20:16, 3 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

OK. Have a look at WP:NPOV. Then go to the top left of the page, and come below the globe. Click on 'Random page' and have a look at quite a few. This should give you a feel of what an encyclopaedic article should sound like. If you do find one that sounds straight out of a handout, brochure or press release please feel free to put {{advert}} at the top (or if it's really bad, put {{db-spam}} instead - then if it's the spam one copy the little bit starting 'subst' onto the creator's talk page). After you've done this, have another look at your wording and see if it says 'press release' or 'encyclopaedia' to you. It's hard if you are connected to a subject closely. You can't really see why everyone else isn't getting wildly enthusiastic too. By the way, don't forget that after an article is launched anyone can edit it. So, if someone knows something you'd rather not have widely known, it may appear. If it's reliably referenced, you can't remove it - unless you can prove that the Guardian was wrong (or whatever). And you need good references to start with. WP:RS will help you to sort out what is and isn't considered reliable. Don't have 39 references to your site and one to someone's blog. Also, cut the detailed timeline bit down. Just get the important stuff for a beginning. When you think you're getting there, put it on a subpage with 'UNDER CONSTRUCTION - WAITING FOR FEEDBACK' or something like that at the top and ask one of us to look at it. I'm back Sunday evening but mightn't be online till Monday morning - depends how I am feeling... Peridon (talk) 19:06, 4 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of User:JANECARRMEDIA/Jane carr (brand)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:JANECARRMEDIA/Jane carr (brand), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.   Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Jane_Carr_(brand), and I noticed that the username you have chosen, "JANECARRMEDIA", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of something other than yourself. Please note that you may not edit on behalf of a company, group, institution, product, or website which relates to the entity in question, and Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or accounts that are shared. If you are willing to use a personal account, please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our Conflict of interest guideline and Plain and simple conflict of interest guide, and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 03:20, 20 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
