Legs on Earth

edit

This article has been deleted because it fails to assert the notability of the subject. (see WP:BAND for more information). Instead of leaving the page blank I have redirected it to Hella (band), which does appear to be notable. You could, if you like, add some of the material to the appropriate "history" section of that article. Please do not recreated deleted articles though, as that may be seen as disruptive editing and - if done continually - could lead to you being blocked from editing. I hope you enjoy Wikipedia and continue to edit with with us! Rockpocket 08:27, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello Issachk. Thanks for your message. Let me explain my reasoning a little better. As an administrator, its one of my jobs to assess whether articles meet the criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia. The major criteria for an article is notability. The specific criteria that must be met for articles about bands is explained in WP:BAND. If the article does not even claim that the band has met any of these criteria the article is speedy deleted under the rule WP:CSD#A7. Thats what would have happened to your article except it did meet one of the WP:BAND criteria, specifically policy number 5:
  • Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable...
In this case Hella is a notable band per WP:BAND. However, the policy goes on to say:
  • ...note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.
So, with that in mind I redirected the article to Hella (band). For the Legs on Earth article to be notable enough in itself you must illustrate how the band meets the criteria at WP:BAND and provide reliable sources proving those claims. If you can do that, then by all means replace it. However, from what you provided before, I don't think they are notable enough and it would be better leaving it as a redirect. As I said above, if you want to expand the background of the Hella article to include some of your material, then go right ahead. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
